now you'll have to excuse my ignorance here but, what exactly does RFE stand for? and if you get an RFE, is that horribly detrimental to your case? and what sort of delay is an RFE likely to impose on an application?

RFE = Request for Evidence (or maybe Request for Further Evidence, I'm not sure). Anyway, it's when they need more information in order to approve or make a decision about your case, so they send you a formal request. The request will tell you what kind of information they want to see. In the hypothetical circumstances we're discussing, it would probably just say something to the effect of "we need photographs of both the petitioner and beneficiary, of the proper US passport size".

If you get an RFE, it will slow your case down somewhat. If you reply to the RFE promptly, giving them exactly what they request, the delay may be short, a couple of weeks or less. Most of the delay would be in the mailing both directions.

But as others have suggested, it seems like an RFE isn't terribly likely for this issue. Do your best to sleep well and not worry about it.

I got some photo's for the I-129F from Snappy Snaps in Romford, Essex and they were to the US size requirements rather than the British ones.

I received an RFE for something else, but they asked for different passport photos (and clearly stated they must be 2" x 2") in addition to what they needed, so my husband took a picture and I photoshopped it to the correct size and printed wallet-sized photos and cropped them down with scissors. :P While I'm sure they'll accept your original photos (as many people have had no problems), that's another option. It's much cheaper, too!

Hi everyone

I've been searching on yahoo for a list of places in the UK which can take US passport sized photos but I'm drawing a blank. I read on this forum of a place in London but this is something I'd rather not have to wait to do till the medical. London is a bit of a trek for me.

Like Jon and Jeannie we used a British sized one for the I-129F, so we got our fingers crossed it will be ok too

Anyways it would be reeeeeal helpful if anyone had a list or knew of anywhere I could go in the Ipswich/Cambridge area

Thanks!.... oh...and nice to meet you all :)

Lisa

thanks for the speedy replies, guys.

i just checked and the passport photos were indeed british sized 1.5" x 2" - it's encouraging to hear YuAndDan that this caused you no problems. :) i wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

DakotaK1 yep, ours were taken with a white background as well (and i didn't smile either ). however, while we did write our names on the back of the photos we didn't date them - jeannie doesn't remember reading that this was a requirement - could this be a potential problem?

... god, who would've thought filling-in forms could be so nerve-wracking! i need a lie down. or a beer. actually i'll just have a beer.

Well, when you get to the Embassy for interview you have to submit more photos. Considering the beneficiary is from the UK in this instance they would hardly fly to the USA to get their photos taken! So, in answer to your question, I'm sure it would be fine.

Snappy Snaps is one of the recommended retailers for getting the photos done for the Embassy and theirs would be British sized.

When it came to time for interview we got new pics made (2x2) at a photo shop travel agent near the consulate to avoid any issue with incorrect sized photos on the DS-164 and other docs used by the Consulate/Embassy

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
