It was a flip response to a stupid comment. Exxon et al are making record profits right now. Are energy costs going down as a result? No.

Just love listening to a narrow minded debate.

As far as the blame game I'm hearing..lets look at the evil Exxon mentioned above..making money by the wheelbarrow full. So shareholders (that includes democrats, republicans, liberals and average people too) are getting richer, whats wrong with that? Exxon didnt create the demand for oil!! Consumers including myself did!! All of us are to blame not Exxon who is a business out to increase profitability no different than any other business. They just happen to be peddling a commodity that the entire world wants and is increasing demand for.

Next its the Evil republicans who support industry that don't want conservation (excuse me generalization of many posts). Last time I looked at campaign donations and legislation dating back as far as I can remember (includes when democrats dominated congress) its pretty much even between democrats and republicans on supporting big industry and also when it comes to conservation its pretty even across the board (only difference I see is the liberals are much better in the PR game than the conservatives, thus building lasting impressions that they are for conservation and anti-big business.

Finally Global warming or as some has said Global climate change or dang it just climate change..

As far as that goes the term Global Warming has become accepted in only recent times and what is portrayed by politicians, the media and some scientists is not "climate change" as some have referred it. It seems as the initial hype dies down and more facts finally make it out to the public, people defending "Global Warming" start changing its definition to "Climate change" to make it more factual in the face of solid scientific facts from well respected members not on government payrolls.

Let me make myself clear,, yes our climate is changing, this is a living planet. Yes we as humans should be more conservation oriented as our own overzealousness may well be our undoing. As some mentioned the concern is the alarming rate of change, but if you care to look at planet climatology. Climate change has been known to litterly change overnight.

Do humans play apart in our planet climate, of course how could 6+ billion living organisms of our mass not play a role?

What is so wrong is people using an issue to gain advantage over others, when in fact the only real catalyst of change will come from ourselves

Don't like Exxon shareholders getting rich? Stop driving vehicles the use it or use it excessively. Many people always find blame (automakers bought all patents for energy sufficeint vehicles) instead of standing up and making a difference.

I am a conservative, I drive a vehicle that gets 42MPG and I make my own bio-diesel. In the future I plan to make my home more energy efficient (Solar panels). We all are responsible and what us as consumers or voters do is what makes reality whether we like it or not.

Global Warming is just a catch phrase, some use it for the right reasons others abuse it and the scientific evidence to there own goals.

As Mawilson pointed out maybe the super volcanoe might erupt but what that really points out is the earth will always have climate change on a small or global scale and us humans have been here and influenced it for a small time on this planet.
