Vaccinations after Interview?

Hi,

 

I am living in a different country of which I am not citizen and where I did not grew up. The system here is often quite difficult, and I am afraid, the doctors will not know what usually was given in my home country on standard vaccination and will ask me to do some here. However, as far as I know, some of those shots need two or more doses with time inbetween. What would happen if the local doctor in the country of my interview will require me to have such vaccination for which not all doses are implemented before the interview? I don´t have a proof about what shots I got when I was 1 year or 10 years of age.

Is it possible to do the shots after the interview or once in the USA?

They can do a test to check which vaccines are active in your system/or have received previously.

 

You need to complete the medical/vaccines before any visa would be issued if the medical is a requirement.

Thanks. So would this mean it is advised to go to the doctor who will perform the medical at a later stage for the embassy well in time before the interview date to get all those checked, and if needed, have them implemented before the "real" medical test?

Yeah, they can check for the presence of certain antibodies in your blood and determine which vaccines you need and which you don't. Even if you didn't have any of the required shots when you were a child, you won't need to get all of the shots, only the ones that are age-appropriate for you (about 4 of them)

 you don't have to do it right now, you won't need any booster shots for the vaccines that they might give you if you are missing any. But if it puts your mind at ease, go ahead and do it. (it doesn't have to be the doctor who will perform your pre-interview medical exam)

Great. Does anyone know how long before the interview date I should start this process? 3 months, 6 months ? If it is only one shot, It could be really anytime...

You can start any time. Since most vaccines on the required list offer a protection of 10-20 years, they will not expire by the time of your medical exam/interview.
