Wow Delta and United are $400-$600 more expensive than Korean Air and Eva form SEA to MNL.  In any case both airlines are superior in every way compared to United.

I guess I am lucky I live in Hawaii. I just bought a ticket on United round trip for $550. If I left 2 days later it would have been $450. The next closest was Philippines Air @ around $700

Philippines Air doesn't make my "consider list" even..

Seriously not even mine anymore. They by far rank up there alongside United of the worst international flights I have taken into or out of the USA.

Just out of curiosity, what happened that makes them rank so low? I took several PAL flights a few years ago. The planes were older, but there was more legroom and the food was good. Contrast that with fancy new extra-small seats in Cathay Pacific where the seats don't even recline, and the food was terrible (I'm 5'10" and not picky about food). I normally fly the Korean airlines (KAL, Asiana).

Bad customer service, poor on-time record etc etc etc  Just do a google search for United airlines, there is a lot of recent negative press.  Granted if you aren't a frequent flyer and are just looking for cheap prices it's probably not a big deal.  But personally United would be far down my list of choices, even if going on another airline  means it cost a bit more.  Fortunately SEA isn't a big hub for United so It makes it easy to avoid them.  And flying to Asia is easy with plenty of choices from here.

It was a couple things dealing with PAL that has me turned off by them flying internationally. The first is their customer service which is lacking to say the least at LAX. My wife had a problem with the name on her ticket and her passport were different, and they took literally 1 hour to take care of this and we almost missed that flight.

The second issue I had with them was I paid extra on the back from Manila to get an exit row seat. I sat down at the window seat and there was a guy sitting down on the other side at the aisle. He took up both seats literally which didn't bother me at all, and actually helped me out later. We take off and everything is going ok at first, then we get up to altitude and there starts to be a cold breeze at my feet. I mean it was freezing cold so bad that my feet were like icicles. So this inhibited me from sleeping because my feet were cold and I only had one blanket. So later on I asked the guy take beside me if I could use his second blanket and luckily he said ok. Since then I have not taken PAL at all going internationally and I won't. I would rather take Korean airlines from the west coast.

Chinook and I just returned from 'pinas.  We usually fly Seattle/Narita/Manila with Delta.  On this recent trip, we flew Seattle/Inchon with Delta and Inchon/Manila with Korean Airlines.

Korean Airlines had a lot more leg room, comparable to Delta Comfort seats.  The tickets were a lot cheaper too.  We paid a bit over $600 apiece.

I always enjoyed flying Delta to Manila, but since I fly United for business travel I'm going to start using them. I'll miss Delta's 747, since they're supposed to be gone by the end of 2017 :(

Really?  They are phasing them out?   I guess I made it just in time as we are flying a 747 this next trip, never flew a 747 yet.

Yeah, they're not nearly as fuel efficient as the newer wide bodies that replaced them i.e. 777, 787, etc. Only time I ever flew on one was one of my trips to Cebu last year on Delta. Working in the aerospace industry, I was glad I got the chance to fly on such an iconic aircraft.

Being an old Air Force guy I remember when the first C-5A arrived at our base... which of course is the 747.    Always wanted to fly the 747 after that, never got a change... until this next trip. :)

How y'all doing?   Good I hope.

I've been lucky enough to have flown the 747 several times from Narita to Manila.  However, by time I get board plane I'm too exhausted to remember the short 4-5 hour trip.  LOL

It's still nice to have that block checked though.  A true pioneer of commercial air travel.

I have flown most of the Boeing aircraft since the mid 60s, from the 707, 727 era.  Got the Dreamliner out of the way a couple years ago, can't say it is an improvement over the 777 or 767 aside from it still "new"
