complicated 245i question help!

Is it possible for my aunt to be grandfathered for 245i if my aunt can use an old petition from the 1980s which successfully got her LPR status. Her current petition is sponsored by her older sis (my other aunt) with the priority date of Aug. 2004. She is no longer LPR b/c my aunt stayed outside of the country and had it taken away. I have spoke this matter to several attorneys and they have no idea what to do b/c they have never came across this situation before.
