torture seems to be the way those captured by an opposing power are treated these days

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I wonder if that's legally classified as torture, seeing as the US govt has taken great pains to make the case that what went/goes on at Guantanamo etc is categorically not torture.

Lots of propaganda flying around these days on all sides. Easy to see how people might be confused. Still I would hope the difference is a little more than "its only torture because they did it". You never know...

Lots of propaganda flying around these days on all sides. Easy to see how people might be confused. Still I would hope the difference is a little more than "its only torture because they did it". You never know...

I'm still not clear who that is - because it seems to vary depending on the person being given "the treatment".
