wait time for immigrant visa?

hi all,i have just had a receipt notice for i-130 .this was sent from london to california as london would not deal with it as my wife {us citizen} has not got required stamp on her visa. my lawyer reckons about 10 - 12 mths to obtain green card .has /is anyone got any info or going through same route?

Our visa took 14 months to process from sending off the 1-130 to having the visa in our hands, but we did not rush through the process. We took our time and obtained each document individually; had we not done this the process would have moved much more quickly. 10-12 months sounds too long.

hi ,thanks for your reply,my case is a little complicated ! i have already been denied g.c. in US for petty convictions 26 yrs ago .we came back to UK and are submitting again with what we hope is a really good lawyer.USCIS made so many ####### ups with my case you wouldnt beleive it ! anyway,i am expecting to have to file for a waiver if i cant get these convictions removed from my police record.i am waiting to hear on that matter and hopefully will be succesful. lawyer reckons 10 -12 mths ,including the wait for waiver.

You'll pretty much have to do a waiver...I hear they can take a while. Have you read the waivers forum at all?

Why didn't you file a waiver when you were denied in the US?

hi,well,this is where it all goes tits up so to speak,we were denied ,no appeal in the US ,we spoke to 2-3 lawyers and they said only route was motion to reopen ,which can lead to deportation if unsuccesfull.so,we decided to come home.when we got back USCIS decided to reopen the case !! ,we submitted an i-601 which was also denied,why they think my wife not being allowed to live with her husband in her own country is not hardship i find incomprehensable,but still ,that was that.anyway ,i was surfing the net and came across an immigration chat site ,you can chat to a lawyer ,i chatted to one and she wanted to speak so i called her and she has took our case.financial problems in the USA didnt help us at the time ,we couldnt afford the money they were asking for etc .hopefully this time we will be ok,we now have the dosh to pay the lawyer etc.i wouldnt mind but my offences are 26 yrs old and only resulted in a total of 90 pounds in fines !! i also have football offences but apparently they are not classed as crimes of moral turpitude ,whreras ,my 2 under the theft act are !

No jail time and the offenses are 26 years old? It sounds waiverable to me, but I'm certainly no expert. From reading the waiver forum I've seen worse get approved.

No jail time and the offenses are 26 years old? It sounds waiverable to me, but I'm certainly no expert. From reading the waiver forum I've seen worse get approved.

Since you have filed via California, you will find others in your same boat in the IR.CR forum here. This forum follows the locally filed cases, so their timelines will be very different from yours.

Since you also have the waiver issue, and the complications of your US AOS case, your timeline is going to be unique to you.
