I'm sorry, but I can't believe this question is even asked (and I see it asked pretty much every day on VJ). You spent how much time and money on filing a K-1 petition and haven't even researched what comes after?

All the info is in the guides.

See the flowchart: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

and the guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Do download the forms from the uscis.gov website in order to get the most recent copies (some links on VJ may be out of date)

Good luck!

I am researching it now.   so you are saying people should not ask questions and just make assumptions.  That's brilliant just like 2+2=3.

Here's the link for applying for SSN.  http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn  Note it recommends waiting 2 weeks after arrival before applying but not waiting too much longer than that. It's useful to have it soon as some states require it for drivers licensing, opening bank accounts, getting health insurance, etc. For health insurance I was able to set my fiance up with health insurance as soon as she arrived through my work. Even though we weren't married she qualified as a domestic partner. I just needed to send in a form saying we lived together and were in a committed relationship

Ok let me formulate this differently: I can't believe this question is asked so many times on this forum, while the answer is easy to find if you do just the tiniest bit of research. Of course, I should just stop replying to these types of questions.

How to find the answer to your question:

What she wants to say is that people should do a research before they ask a question. She's right, this question has been asked many times.

If I google "What to do after gotten married on a K1 visa", you will find the answer. This is one of the websites that shows up https://www.uscis.gov/family/family-us-citizens/fiancee-visa/fiancee-visas

I don't want to sound rude or unfriendly.

Your fiance should have gotten or will get a document from the PoE officer at the airport with the steps she has to take after you got married.

I don't care what she says I can ask questions at any time o want to.  Your friend needs to mind her own business.  Thanks for the info.

FYI: You better watch what you write to or about other members. I reported your comment.

Sure, can people write or ask whatever they want but what about doing some research before you ask a question. When my husband and I filed for my K1 visa and sent it to USCIS, we immediately checked the USCIS website what we have to do after we got married and I am sure many other members did the same unless they applied for a CR1 visa.

busy bodies and others sometimes need to be told to pay attention to their own matters.  there is no other way.

LOL, at least @DrEllaNJ, @Scandi, and the few other members who commented on your topic knew what we had to to after we received or K1 or CR1 visa. And I am sure we all DID our research.

But hey, why should you do that because the other members do the work for you instead. Keep posting your questions even if you could find the answers on the USCIS website or Google too.

I know this forum is for people to help each other out but you can still post your question AFTER you did some research. I don't like it when people expect from other people to do their work.

If you would have done your research on AOS, EAD and AP before posting your question here, you knew that your fiance is not allowed to work without having at least her EAD.

OP, being so rude and arrogant isn't going to help you to get help here when you need it next time. Based on how much you dislike doing research  and reading, you will have many more questions soon.

Upon POE, you can apply for an SSN within the first 75 days of entering the U.S. on a K-1 visa, however this SSN alone does NOT allow the individual to work. If the applicant fails to apply for an SSN within the 75 days, they will be required to wait until they either get an EAD, or AOS if the EAD was never processed. Technically a K-1 visa holder can apply for an EAD immediately upon entry, however it will expire the same day as the I-94, making it pointless to do so.

Your fiance should be prepared to be unemployable for the first 3-4 months after filing AOS, along with an EAD — working otherwise is illegal.

My wife applied for a SSN back in February before we got married, and still haven't recieved it. When I called the ssn office, they said I'd need to call USCIS customer servers, and it would take 6-8 weeks. I am about to file for her Adjustment of Status. Would it be worth calling them to inquire about this?

You can file for AOS without the SSN.
