This is my first post here but this is what we've done so and gotten back so far:

I-130 for my mother-in-law in Brazil (my wife is a US citizen)

4/4 - I-130 sent USPS

4/6- I-130 received at Chicago Lockbox

4/11 - check cashed

4/15 - NOA1 received via USPS - Case assigned to Potomac Service Center

Anyone know approximately how long until the NOA2 is received?

Welcome Starmenace,

I have noticed that in some cases Potomac is processing faster than other service centers.  It can be few months maybe 2 to 5 but remember with inmigration  things can change from one day to another.  Some cases get approved faster other takes more time. However I have noticed that things are moving going a litle faster. Let all hope for the best.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, let's just hope things move along faster than not. My mother-in-law already sold her house and needs to move out on July 1. She'll be living with her son until she gets the green light to move here to the US. She doesn't get along with her daughter-in-law so she's really hoping this process moves quickly. :)

Here for my mother-in-law, here's what we've done so far for her IR-5:

04.06.17 - NOA1
09.14.17 - NOA2
09.21.17 - Case Sent to NVC/DoS
10.19.17 - Notice of Immigrant Visa Case Creation
10.23.17 - Fees Paid Online
10.25.17 - Fees Posted
10.26.17 - IV Application Submitted
10.26.17 - AOS Submitted
10.27.17 - Civil Documents Submitted
11.09.17 - Documents Accepted, Case Closed @ NVC
12.13.17 - Interview Notice

01.03.18 - Medical Exam Scheduled01.11.18 - Interview
01.31.18 - IV Picked Up

Oh wow I understand Starmenace,

But in the mean time tell your mother in law to try to get a long .... since we never know but hopefully everything will be moving quickly.

Hi everyone! I'm new here. Sent i130 for my mom.

April 14 2017 received the NOA 1, Texas Service Center

Have one problem, can't check the case status, it says they don't recognize the receipt number.

Does anyone have the same issue ?

Wait a few days then try again. I was having the same issue on Tuesday, today it works.

Hi Sherlock23,

For what I have been checking…

We need to gather financial paperwork :

  1. I completed the I-864 (I didn’t dated nor sign it)

  2. Income tax documentation ( I  already requested the transcript from the IRS for 2014, 2015 & 2016)

  3. Pay Stubs

  4. Work letter ( I am requesting it once my case is transfer to the NVC).

Also in addition:

  1. Copy of birth certificate

  2. Copy of unexpired passport

  3. Police certificate (In my case is not needed since I am requesting a minor)

  4. Marriage certificate

I know there are other documents for at the moment this is all that I have.

Thanks a lot for the very detailed response!! This is very helpful!
