I frequently read about reaching out to the local congressman in case a USCIS case is long overdue with no update.

I asked my husband who is the local congressman? He just responded with "I dont know. Never cared"

I asked him what's the scope of the congressman? Does he represents city? county? state? He responded with "I dont know. Never cared" again.

I am from Philippines and we back in Philippines have a complete different government model.

In Philippines, we have a mayor, governor and congressman/representative. (mayor = per city, governor = per province, representative = per region)

Now, I am aware U.S. is different. I've tried asking my husband and i could get any helpful info. He just told me he doesnt like politics.

Anyways, I turned to google for help and found this:

http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/County.aspx?CountyCode=355&CountyName=Nueces

Now, I got more confused. I dont know the difference between texas US senator vs texas State senators?

Anyways, my question is. Which office should i contact in case i would need my local congressman to intervene?

texas US senator? texas state senator? texas us representative? or texas state representative?

Thanks in advance

As per @Transborderwife your AOS is on schedule. Therefore, there's absolutely no need to get in touch with your senator or congressperson. According to Google, here's the difference between a US senator and state senator:

What is the difference between US senator and state senator?
A state senator is a member of one of the 49 state legislative chambers called State Senates. A US Senator is one of 100 members (two per state) of the US Senate. They consider and enact legislation that affects the people of either their state, or the entire US.

Your state senators only deal with stuff concerning your state alone. There's one in every district. Based on what I looked up, doesn't look like they provide services on contacting federal agencies.

Instead, you'll need to contact one of the two US senators representing your state that can be found here https://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?State=TX for assistance with federal agency matters.

As for a congressperson, he/she sits in the House of Representatives. Each district within your state will have a congressperson. In order for you to contact one, you should research who serves your district and contact the appropriate congressperson. After researching who covers your district, refer to this list to proceed to the relevant congressperson website and use their contact link when there is a need for it: http://www.house.gov/representatives/#state_tx Right now, there's no need for it. Save this for future reference.

Have a little patience and faith :) Good luck.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

You would need to contact the Texas US representative for your district. Which you can find out who it is by going to Google and searching who is my congressman.

But the question is why do you feel the need to contact a congressman yet? Your case is less than 90 days old right now you still could have 9 months left.

Just keeping the info handy just in case i MAY need to. Additionally, im the type of person who wants to be acquainted with the community i am living with. I want to know where to go to in case i may need something.

i want to understand how my society, government and economy works.

To quote again...

The question is intended in case or in the future if I may need to do so. Im not saying I need to contact a representative now for my case.

I just needed clarification and better understanding of the "congressman's office" which i frequently read about.

I got the names in the link above (original post). But my question is to which office such USCIS immigration cases should be directed to?

Does the texas US senator office handle USCIS case matters? or texas state senator office? or texas US representative? or texas state representative? or either office can be contacted?

Not a problem :) Happy to find out for myself too. I've always known there are 2 US senators per state because it's one of the civics test questions. I didn't even know there are state senators

I wasn't planning to contact the congressman anytime soon. Just that I am keeping the info handy. I know a lot of Filipinos here in Corpus Christi and all of them took more than a year for GC. A friend of mine is still waiting for her GC and it has been close to 2years now. She came on K-1. She didnt do anything to follow up. I wanted to keep the info handy in case my USCIS application will take the same path.

Ok, that makes sense, sorry but your first post sounded like you wanted to contact them right away. But I totally understand about wanting to know more about politics here because it is different than the Pinas. I have had to help my asawa learn more about the US politics as well.

it's cool. i read my post again and realized how it sounded like. i was just typing in my flowing thoughts and didnt get to re-read before posting. i was overwhelmed with questions about the difference in government model and my husband doesnt like the topic. lol.

everything is different. some people just doesnt mind at all and doesnt care about the differences. But, id like to know my rights and privileges as part of the society now. Im just digging here and there, couple of research and readings to killing time while waiting for USCIS to progress with the case.

To start with as others have said immigration is a Federal issue so you would only need to contact US representatives (that represent your state). State representatives only deal with issues and laws concerning the state. A quick Google search says

Rep Blake Farenthold is the representative for Corpus Christi, TX.
