Check out goodrx.com for prescription coupons. If the medication is still too expensive contact the prescribing doctor. If it's a physician office they might have samples. If it's a hospital sometimes there's a program they can supply it. If all else fails ask to talk to a case manager, sometimes drug companies can give you a break for no insurance. I've been a nurse for 15 years so I've helped a lot get what they need.

Of course you can obtain a prescription without insurance provided you pay out of pocket for it. The cost will most likely be quite staggering though. If you are going to a minute/urgent clinic you can often get the medication in-house without needing to go to an additional pharmacy. You are more than eligible to obtain insurance at this stage though instead of resorting to paying out of pocket.

Yes you can. But keep in mind the medicines here ,without insurance, cost a lot more than what you think (even back in your country) . My mom pays $6 for her meds with insurance every time she has a prescription. Without insurance, it can easily be $200 or more. The difference is huge so keep this in mind. It depends on the type of medicines too.
