Hi all. So my husband had his interview December 29, 2016 he was apparoved. On January 3, 2017 we received an email that under 221g he needed to submit court papers for an arrest in El Salvador in 2006. He obtained the docs and sent them via cargo expreso which were received on January 9 by the embassy. We weren't hearing anything and he has been in admin processing. We finally got our state senator involved who has been great and has gotten some better answers. Low and behold after the senator sent an email a week later this past Wednesday my husband had a second interview to basically explain the arrest which really was nothing more than an exchange of words. There was never a physical altercation and no one was injured or harmed. After this the interviewer said that the official making the decision wanted to see my husband and hear his story. He didn't see anyone besides the interviewer and I believe the room most likely had double sided mirror. The interviewer also said that because this was for residency and not for a visa that the officer needs to make sure before making a decision. They told my husband to keep an eye on his email. The case still says admin processing however the date changed Wednesday and yesterday. Can anyone provide feedback? Anyone ever go through this? Should it move now that he has provided his statement ?

I can't provide specific feedback regarding your circumstances, but you're basically in administrative processing. During this time, dates on the CAEC website will change as you noticed yesterday, this basically means that your case has been "touched" in some way. This doesn't mean your visa will be issue soon; it could be issued tomorrow, it could be six months from now. This is is the basic problem with administrative processing, there is literally no fixed date on which your visa may be approved or issued. In this case it sounds like the consular officer wants to thoroughly investigate your husband's arrest record prior to issuing the visa. This will take as long as it's going to take; even your senator cannot speed up this process. If you've looked at the VisaJourney forums here many people undergo administrative processing, sometimes lasting ~1 year or more!!

All you can do now at this point is to continue to follow with the embassy my email/phone (if phone calls are allowed). Keep pressing them for updates; they will likely just say you're in administrative processing. If after a month or two you haven't heard anything, you could try getting your senator involved again. But other then these two things, there isn't much you can do, but wait for the process to finish out. I hope your visa gets issued quickly!

Keeping the PASSPORT is a good sign.

Omg I meant passport. I know that's what I've read I'm just so ready for him to come home already 😞 This whole process is so long and really not necessary
