Bringing step-child in US

Hi everyone, 

 

Please advise! my husband (USC) is applying for I-130 for my Son. He is 10 years old. If any of you have done it how long did it take? And also if he is qualified for K-4 visa?

It will likely take roughly 10 months to a year total. K-4 is only for dependents of a K-3...and I'm assuming you did not enter the US on a K-3 visa (very rare) within the past year.

no i did not we were married.  thats what we figured out. do you know what supporting doc must be submitted with i-130 to get approved quicker ?

There are no documents to speed up the process...it takes the time that it takes. But you can limit the chance of getting an RFE and slowing things down by following the guide:

Thank you so much! We have everything, we are just expecting baby and want to get it done asap and since my son decided to come in US we are ready to start process.

We filed the CR-1 and IR-2 together.  We submitted the same forms/documents on both petitions. That being said, complete the IR-2 with the same documentation as your previously completed CR-1 I-130. Make sure you use updated tax information for the I-864 when completing the AOS.

Do we have to attache affidavit of support with I-130?

No. That's later in the process.  I was just mentioning it for future reference.
