Hello how r u... My case is under ap processing after the interview... They kept my passport and all the original documents and said they will take 60 Calender days to complete their ap processing.. Now already 35 days finished. They update my file only one time last month of 30th May after.. No update available... Do u know something about ap processing... R they finished the case with in 60 days or more.. If they need more documents..they will be contacted with mail... Still I M waiting for my visa... Don't know whats going on.....

AP, as some people in these forums have said, can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. There's nothing out of the ordinary with how your processing is going at the moment. Just keep checking your email everyday.

Before your interview, you are supposed to fill out an online form for your local US embassy. The form requests certain information from you including a contact email address. I think the embassy uses the information you provide there to contact you when your passport's ready. Did you fill out such a form?

I think you'll be ok, brother.

Do u Know anyone in this forums.. Who is under ap process after the interview...

I don't know them personally. I have only read about people being on administrative processing for several weeks and then finally picking up their visas. I'm sure if you search well enough you will find them on the site. Try to contact any one of them when you do.

If anyone wants to request a F2B retention (from F1), you can write a letter to NVC using this electric form: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html. Fill in all the information, write a request for F2B retention, attach your scan of certificate of naturalization and approval letter (and a signed request letter if possible).

After 3 weeks, they will change your case to F2B. However, they will note that the DHS or Consular will decide if your case is valid for F2B (which mean you will have to sign an agreement for F2B retention in the interview).

You should keep all the letters which were being sent by USCIS and NVC. Sometimes, they will ask your approval letter and certificate of naturalization, to prove that your case was approved before you got naturalization (F2B upgraded to F1).

If your case was approved after you got naturalization, which mean you are F1 from the beginning, so you will not have a chance to go to F2B.

Remember, you cannot go back to F1 after you request a F2B retention, so you should wait and check F1 and F2B cut off date, to see which one will pass your PD sooner.

In 2017, F1 moved faster than F2B 6 months, then it was retrogressed.

In 2018, F2B moved faster than F1 3 months until now.

As you can see, their processing time is changing rapidly so you cannot predict them too soon.

Sorry. My previous post is wrong in one sentence. I cannot edit it so I hightlighted the corrected one above.

Not yet. I have just got an email from NVC notifying that my case was changed to F2B, and I have to submit the letter to DHS to get an approval. But when I asked them, they told me that the Consular will decide it.

This is true for my friends and other people, in their interview, they were also asked to sign the letter to agree that they keep F2B category, and then they got visa after 2 weeks.

However, in Philippines, I heard that the Consular Officer asked applicants to send a signed letter to DHS in Phillippines after the interview, and to get the approval for F2B retention before Consular officer can process their visa.

So you have to prepare all the documents as I listed and asked the Consular Officer how to submit the letter, and request the approval, because every Consular will have a different procedure.

USCIS notify that they will make a temporary retrogression in September for some categories.

Therefore, there will be no movement in September, the cut off date will be even backward.

But in October, the movement will be bigger because USCIS begins new fiscal year.

For anyone who has an interview in August and wants to re-schedule, you should attend the interview.

Because there is a chance that you will have to wait until after October for a new interview if you miss the interview in August.
