Before I came to the US. No criminal record or former visa on the old name. I overlooked the section where you have to put old names.

Also note that some K-1 AOS's can even take a year even with pre-clearance.

It should be expected over all for anyones AOS to take AT LEAST 6 months to a year. I know my local one is currently working on AOS cases from May 2016.

Yes, it can go fast, but over all it is a hit  or miss. Some cities have longer wait times than others, some countries may do more checking, if anything doesn't match up (like your name) that will add more time most likely. Overall, this is one of those processes where it's better to sit back and wait until it's done instead of wanting it done ASAP because wanting it done ASAP and worrying about the time will just cause more stress.

I know we have some people on here who have been waiting over 2 years for approval of AOS.

How long does it usually take for an AOS from F-1 based on marriage? Is it fairly quicker than say, K-1? Has anyone waited for an unusually long time(6 months plus)?

It (almost always) takes longer than those adjusting through K-1 since they have already been interviewed by USCIS and many get GC with interview waived. We submitted our package at the end of October and are still waiting for an interview to be scheduled. So I would say you are most likely looking at ~1 year, give or take, based on the current processing times and backlog and due to increased applications and decreased workforce probably due to the new administration (the last part is half fact, half speculation :P)
