After doing AOS from K1 it took well over the 90 days to receive the EAD/AP card.

I am in the same situation but will file for an extension 180 days prior to my EAD card expiring.

For EAD renewal does it take the same length of time to process in comparison to first applying for an EAD or is it processed quicker?

Same time. At least you will get an automatic 180 extension as long as you have filed your renewal and you do not have to stop working in that time. You can also try to expedite on the basis of financial hardship if the deadline creeps up to the 180 day extension.

So once you file the extension 6 months. Prior to EAD expiring, is it the NOA that allows you to work past your expiration date...sorry if I got that wrong, I'm sure you will clarify.

Many Thanks

Renewal is suggested at 120 or at least 90 days before expiration.

Generally, you should not file for a renewal EAD more than 180 days before your original EAD expires.

Is it 180 days or 120 days? USCIS site says about automatic EAD extension for 180 days when renewal is properly filed, but no mention of how early the renewal can be sent.

With many EAD cases taking longer than 6 months to be approved, sending renewal application as early as possible seems to be a safer way. But how early is it OK with USCIS, without risking a renewal application being rejected on "filed too early" grounds?

120 days as far as I know.

For EAD renewal:

1. Fill out and sign form I-765. Link
2. Two RECENT passport color photos with A-Number written on the back of them
3. I 765 Approval Notice and Receipts
4. Photocopy of 485 receipt (i-797)
5. Form G1145 for (email/sms) notification during the application process (optional)
6. Photocopy of Current EAD/AP combo card (front and back)
7. Bar codes page attached to the previous EAD/AP approval (optional)
8. Copy of Marriage Certificate for dependent only (optional)
9. Front and back copy of I-94 (this is not required for people with pending I485).

Other Details:
1. If you file your I-485 after July 30,2011 there is no additional fees (Please confirm in I-765instr.pdf)
2. Address to send: depends on where you live, see page 10 of the I-765 instructions document.
3. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-765instr.pdf

For AP renewal:

1. Fill out and sign form I-131. Link
2. Two RECENT passport photos with A-Number written on the back of them
3. Photocopy of 485 receipt/ Approval Notice (i-797)
4. I-485 Receipts
5. Form G1145 for (email/sms) notification during the application process (optional)
6. Photocopy of Current EAD/AP combo card
7. Bar codes page attached to the previous EAD/AP approval (optional)
8. Copy of Marriage Certificate for dependent only (optional)

Other Details:
1. If you file your I-485 after July 30, 2011 there is no additional fees (Please confirm in I-131instr.pdf)

2. Address to send: depends on where you live, see page8 of the I-131 instructions document.
3. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-131instr.pdf

Tip: Put EACH application in its OWN envelope and write the name, A# and form number on the outside for each applicant. Then put all of the envelopes in ONE courier package (FedEx, UPS, Express Mail) and send it to the USCIS. This way your multiple applications (if any) will not get lost/separated.

Note: If you are applying for Combo Card, please send both the documents (I-131 (AP) & I-765 (EAD)) to I-765-EAD address.

In terms of current immigration status last time at AOS I put K1, since I am still in AOS mode should it be non resident alien k1?

Furthermore, on the i-131 where it asks about if you ever been issued a reentry permit would this be YES as that is what the I-131 is on a combo card? Also on the I-765 when it asks if you applied for employment authorization I understand what office it was but for the date is that the date they received the I-131 or the date I sent away the I-131?

Is 4 photos mandatory if it is made into a combo card some say 2?

No fee, just include the NOA 1 from your AOS and submit 120 days before EAD expires, they are running a bit behind.

I think I have a similar case. I had an interview which was successful and did not have any approval letter for i-485. My EAD will be expired 11/18. Is it a common case? I am just worried ....like you.
