Greetings dear VJ'ers!

I am about to return to Uganda to be with my husband until he gets his visa. This is going to be a 6 month stay, at least, as we have yet to get our NOA-2. (PD for I-130 is October 13th).

In preparation to leave, I am getting all of the NVC paperwork in order so that my mom can just mail it off as soon as it is requested.

The address question, Part 4, numbers 2-4 which asks about my address is giving me a problem. Obviously for the mailing address I will write my US address. Now #3 asks if my current address and mailing are the same. By the time the I-864 is sent off, I will be living in Uganda. So my question is should I put my Ugandan address as physical, even thought it will just be for a handful of months? Or should I say that my physical address is the SAME as my mailing address?

The conflict is that it will look great for the consulate to see I am living with my husband. The more proof of marriage, the better. But I also worry that it might raise questions about my domicile. Is 6 months abroad "too long"? Will I need proof of residence in Uganda to add this address as my physical address?

*So many unknowns!*

Thanks to all of you VJ'ers who take time to answer questions like these. You are tremendously appreciated.

Use your US address.

For the I-864, you must have a US domicile.  Proving a Ugandan resident could complicate meeting this requirement.

If you are entering Uganda as a tourist, then you are visiting.

Just explain to the US Embassy that you legally live in the US and are in Uganda to visit and support your spouse while waiting for his immigration visa.
