it was rejected probably because of the the lack of signature from your spouse on the tax return and the W-7 application.

Without your spouse signing the tax return, everything will be rejected.

We did a power of attorney to sign his name previous to sending it in , this was completed by a tax professional so I'm confused at what went wrong unless just IRS goof up.

I believe he is supposed to sign his own tax return. especially when you have a ITIN application. IRS does not play with signature. Even a tax refund check (physical check) can't be cashed by just one of the couple unless they both sign it.

Since it has been rejected many times already, I would recommend you send the tax return page and have him sign it personally and send it back to you (DHL would be the best or file an extension to buy you time).

or you can file married filing separately or  file as head of Household.

The certified passport had an extra page stapled to it. I don't know if that page is relevant but I sent all of that, with his signature on the tax return.

My cousin's wife was returning from Ghana so i was lucky to have her collect these documents and send them to me.

The form is 2848 legal representative to talk or get information and to sign tax papers for you , I filed this at the same time and yes he had to sign the original one. (2848) done because I did not trust the mail or fed ex employees there .

Never knew about this form..Learned something new.

Any if you submitted all the required documents then take a look at your tax return itself.
