Hi VJ's,

I have been reading about these vaccinations and quite concern about it.

Anyone pregnant and did the all the vaccinations? Or these can be waived? Such us MMR, chest xray? Or it is possible to postpone the interview and get all these vaccinations after giving birth?

Thanks.

congratulations! :)

You will get the vaccinations that won't put on risk your pregnancy. The doctor will decide that during medical examination. If you can't get them before going to the U.S, then you will receive them after you get there

This is not accurate, unless it has changed recently. The instructions were to supply a shield for the stomach.

OP: The vaccinations that are contraindicated during pregnancy can be waived, the others you will have to take.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Hi,

actually about the xray that is what i have read as well. Im not a doctor but i am not really comfy doing xray.

I was thinking if i can do the medical after interview. Because if everything goes smoothly with NVC, i will be still pregnant before the interview.

You'll have to do the medical before the interview, otherwise they can't process your visa. You could delay the medical AND interview until after the birth though.

X-ray's during pregnancy feels like an unnecessary risk to take, but many women have done it.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Thank you. That is what we are hoping. If i really need to do xray and take all vaccinations it would be better if we can delay the interview after i give birth.

Yes, you will need to take the chest X-ray even if you're pregnant. A friend of mine had to do it before her visa interview. They will use a special vest to protect your belly. But you should talk to your doctor about it. If there's a possibility to postpone the interview, maybe this is the best option.

If it makes you feel any better, other than that you will have a protective shield, chest x-rays give really low doses of radiation. It's comparable to the amount of natural background radiation that we are all exposed to in about 10 days. For comparison, a CT gives as much as we are exposed to for 2 years!

The good far out way the risks, which is why the Doctors still perform it ofc :)

I understand that with a baby,  ZERO risk is preferred :D just trying to give you some perspective on it all.

And oh yea..congrats ofc!!

We had to do the xray (or postpone). The research I did indicated a very low risk of complication (my wife was only 2-3 months at the time) so we went ahead (with the shield).

We now have a healthy, happy 4 year old with no adverse reactions (that was able to be born stateside).

my thoughts to you, do your own research, make your own decision (it's your child after all), but you will have to do the xray (I do think they will waive the vaccines).

Good luck and congrats on the baby. (Our #3 will be here in June).

Thanks. This made me not to worry so much.

i have some research as well and i dont mind postponing the medical and interview as well as another option and hoping that USCIS would be okay to it.

Unless you trust the doctor\xray technicians, it'd be wise to postpone medical and interview until after baby's delivery.
