How easy is it to change the requested embassy interview location?

 

Short explanation is last August when we started the process we chose Okinawa (Japan), now we'd prefer Taipei.

 

We've JUST started the NVC phase of the Great Games.

 

Easily done or huge burden??? (Wife is Japanese, but we legally live and work in Taiwan until July 31st.)

If it hasn't progressed to the embassy yet, it might work it more easily. You should contact the NVC, and ask if they can change the forwarding address.

NVC can change it for you, contact them to find out how.  Be warned, your case number will probably change, so if you haven't sent everything yet, make sure you do before you change it. Or wait and submit it all after the change.  We moved countries so our case number changed as did our documentation.  No issues though, it took some time to sort but they had no issues with it

You will also need to make sure your desired embassy or consulate does the required visa applications. Not all are created equally so to speak and process all types of visa applications. In my situation (Canada), I was unable to interview at the US consulate which was two hours by car in my home province, as it was not authorized for CR or K visa applications. Instead I had to take a 5 hour, 3600km flight to the only consulate (out of 7 in the country) that did them.
