This is a bit confusing. This is where someone needs to either call, or Email the embassy and ask them directly, if you can attend the interview without this letter.

I remember my fiancee took the letter to her interview with her. She received it at her door about 2 weeks after NOA2.

I also received one a few days after she did in the U.S. I'm looking at it right now, the letter is dated 03/28/2017. Our NOA2 was 03/09/2017. So I received it around 04/2017. So she received hers about 2 weeks exactly after NOA2 ( and she lives in Tacna. )

It is just 3-4 pages. A formal letter from the embassy explaining that they can begin to process your case. And to communicate with them by letter or telephone, using case number, name, date of birth, etc. The other pages are the "instrucciones para los solicitantes de visa de novios" and the "informacion sobre los derechos de los immigrantes victimas de la violencia domestica en los Estados Unidos y sobre la immigracion con visa por matrimonio"

I honestly do NOT think that your interview would be declined for not having this letter. Like BBF is saying, Schedule your interview, pay the fee, print the confirmation of interview. DS-160 paid..etc. etc. Follow Instructions Step by Step.  You should be good. If the letter comes to you before your interview date, take it with you. If it doesn't, I wouldn't worry about it. You and your petitioner have paid all the necessary fees and gathered all the required documents. It is not your fault that their letter did not arrive to you before your interview date. If you want more peace of mind. Call or Email the Embassy directly. Ask them, let us know what they say. Or just go to the interview without it. I think you'll be fine.

You're welcome and I'm glad I can help.

I was talking with my fiancee about this and she said that the letter is "not important for the interview"

I used USPS(United States Postal Service) and sent the documents to a Serpost near the Doctors office where she went for her medical exam. I checked the reviews of several different Serposts in Lima and they are all pretty bad. I sent mine to the one at Av Jose Larco 868 in Miraflores. I paid for 3-5 days express shipping and it stayed in Peru Customs for awhile. It took way longer than expected. I don't remember how many days it took to get there but it was over 10 business days. You can track the package with USPS until it arrives in Peru and then the tracking stops getting updated. All you can do is call the Serpost that you sent it to, and ask them if they have a package for you.

This packet was extremely stressful part for us because she needed to receive it while she was in Lima doing her medical exam, and obviously you Must have those supporting documents for the interview. It was very hard to reach them by phone, they only answered her call once out of many calls. But, after her medical exam, she went to the Serpost office, it was there, and they said they had just received it that morning. Whew!

I hope your experience is a little smoother! Tell your fiance to get that packet sent to you as soon as he can! And don't forget any documents or forget to sign anything! Good luck. 😳

Very nice! I wasn't offered a guaranteed delivery or money back.

Best of luck!

Hi again,

I have some questions for the ones who already receive the visa, I need to buy my flight ticket by the end of July because which is very soon and it is going to be more expensive if I buy it after my interview (14 July) and even more expensive for the Peru independece day lol, so I am trying to save money buying it earlier.

1. How many days after your interview you pick your visa up.

2. Can I buy ONE WAY ticket or I should buy return since I am not a resident yet

3. what other recomendations do you have ?

4. THANKS A LOT !!!

Did you ever get an answer to your question? One thing my fiancé and I learned the hard way is to never book flights or quit jobs until you have your visa in your hand!

My fiancé was approved in Lima on June 16, a Friday. On Monday, he put in his notice at work. After that, he received an email from the embassy telling him to come back for another interview. We were TERRIFIED. Once they told him he was approved, we thought we were good! We didn't know things could change! They told him they needed more proof that alfredo was never in the US illegally after finishing his masters at the university of North Carolina (he had a special extension that allowed him to stay and work in the US for a time after graduation--he had already sent in that proof, but somehow they missed it and were asking for it again!)

Anyway, we sent in the proof, but were stuck in administrative processing for 2 weeks. We were so afraid that he would somehow end up being denied, or our case would be stuck in AP for months and months when he already quit his job!

Thankfully, just last Friday, on his LAST day of work, we found out his visa was issued! :) We are so relieved, but we learned our lesson to never make concrete plans until you have your visa in your hand--there's just always the possibility that things could change and you'd be out the cost of a plane ticket. Sorry for the looooong story just to answer a simple question! Lol

1. It take about a week or 2 for fiance visa to arrive in mail(DHL).

2. Are you planning to get marry and live in US? If yes then buy 1 ONE WAY ticket. You get marry and you stay in US. If you return back to country while using fiance visa, your fiance visa will automatic expired and you cannot come back again and will have to start over.

3. Strongly recommend not to buy flight ticket until you have received fiance visa. Have your fiance take important stuff with to move in your place. Rest of others can be ship in package. If fiance family is coming to wedding in US, they can bring some of your fiance stuff.

Quick question!  My fiance's interview is tomorrow and I received an email from the embassy this afternoon (actually addressed to him) confirming the appointment saying that he needed to fill out and submit the DS160.  He has already filled out and submitted this and bringing a printed copy of the confirmation page tomorrow. Did any of you receive this email the day before the interview?  Me being super paranoid person is concerned he needs to fill out and submit a new DS160.

Hi ! im filling the AOS, but im not sure what kind of police certificate i need to get, because there are 3 different types:

Para el uso en el extranjero - S/ 133.30
Para uso en el país - S/ 17
Para viaje al exterior - S/ 47.40

and the NVC web saids:

Police Records

  • Available: Yes. To those 18 and older.
  • Fees: S/17 Nuevos Soles (approximately $6 dollars)
  • Document Name: Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales (Certificate of Police Record)
