Hi everyone,

On Friday we had an Infopass appt. to find out what was going on with our case. Well after talking to one extremely rude woman we were given a number and asked to take a seat. The next person was much nicer and gave us some good news. She told us that my husband name had finally been cleared about a week ago. We got excited and were hoping she ask my husband for his passport and stamp it but she said because it hadn't been 6 months since our interview date she couldn't send us upstairs until May 15th. She said to be patient for just a little longer that the green card could show up in the mail before then. So we left there pretty happy. :star:

But the thing is that there's been no change in our case online. Is that normal? How long do you guys think it will take to get the green card now if what the woman told us is true?

Thanks so much for all the help you guys have provided. We're starting to see the light at the end of the long tunnel!

E.

At least it's something. May 15th is not that far away so if it hasn't arrived by then go back and see the immigration officer. Good luck.

On may 15th it will be exactly 180 days since my transfer to CSC. According to USCIS misinfo line i can enquire further on that date.

I find this very interesting that they would hold onto a case until 6 months post interview, especially if your namecheck has been completed. At any rate its good news! congrats!

If they were "outside of normal processing time" she probably could of send them "upstairs" Would be my guess

I had thought of that, but then I was thinking if thats the case - everyone who has had an interview & been approved should be made to wait until processing dates come current  .

True, but I think they got the infopass at the right time and just before an Officer could adjudicate the case. There probably is some stupid rule that says if they are not "out of processing times" do not send up stairs. Whereas I think they should of sent them upstairs and they could of cleared the file and moved on. But hey, no one ever said Government made sense.

We actually are out of normal processing time. But at the interview we were given a letter that stated that we were approved pending name check. And the woman at the window said that she couldn't send us "upstairs" because it hadn't been six months since the interview date.

I believe that's pointless, they could have gotten rid of us right then and there. But they probably have a checklist of requirements you have to meet before you're sent "upstairs."

Another question, has anyone gone through something similar? Or do you know of someone else who's gotten a verbal that name check cleared? I'm just wondering how long between name check being cleared and greencard arriving?

Thanks again
