I'm currently putting my evidence together for ROC and want to include "sworn or affirmed affidavits."

I am having trouble understanding these definitions. I understand the templates available and have people ready to write me letters. The part that's confusing me is the "sworn or affirmed".

When these letters are signed. Do they need to be signed off and stamped or have an oath taken in front of a public official or notary?  Or can these letters just state "I swear, bla bla", signed and mailed with no 3rd party involved?

I'm getting mixed results regarding this. The majority of people mention that it is not required (if the letter contains language pertaining too "perjury and penalty") or that it must be sworn under oath... I'm stumped...

If it's sworn, it needs to be notarized. This a good example of what to put if you don't want to go down that route. https://citizenpath.com/how-to-write-an-i-751-affidavit/ . There is a sample letter 2/3rds down the page.
