Faced with historic low poll numbers after only slightly more than 70 days in office, President Donald Trump is becoming more isolated as fellow Republicans distance themselves from the chief executive after a string of policy failures.

According to the Washington Post, Trump’s unorthodox governing style along with his unfamiliarity about how bills get passed has lawmakers from his own party moving away from him, with a former White House official stating, “That’s what happens when you have an unpopular president.”

Following the failure of Trumpcare to even reach the floor of the House for a vote due to pushback from the hardline Republican Freedom Caucus, the president has launched attacks on the members — including having his social media director call for one member to be defeated at the polls.

With Trump making no effort to reach out to Democrats, and the president surrounding himself with family members including his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, Trump seems to be making more enemies than friends in Washington D.C.

“He seems both politically and personally isolated these days,” explained former White House adviser David Gergen. “He’s flailing because he doesn’t know where to find his natural allihappens with an unp

The downslide continues...

http://time.com/4725494/president-donald-trump-approval-rating/

President Donald Trump’s approval ratings fell to 35% Tuesday — another new low for the president during his first months in office.

The approval ratings produced by Quinnipiac University are a drop from the last national poll, released March 22, which showed Trump's approval at 37%. Trump’s ratings fall under former President Barack Obama’s lowest — 38% in 2013.

According to the poll, the majority of Americans also believe the following about the president:

  • “He is not honest”
  • “He does not have good leadership skills”
  • “He does not care about average Americans”
  • “He is not level-headed”
  • “He does not share their values”

I wonder if these polls used the same method to determine that Trump would lose the election by a large margin. If so they should be taken just as seriously. By the way the health care bill that failed should be called Ryancare not Trumpcare. It was Paul Ryan's creation and Trump caused it to fail by trying to ram it through quickly. Now that Trump has disposed of the bad bill he is moving onto a better bill like the one written by an actual doctor Rand Paul. I think a doctor can write a better health care bill than a bunch of lawyers can anyways.

I will throw you a bone here with I agree about it being Ryan's bill.  But why didn't he just go to Rand Paul in the first place?

trump had to trick congress into believing they had to pass the bill or nothing further would happen. trump did this so the bill would fail quickly. he's such a genius. definitely knows exactly what he's doing. that's why he used the #passthebill hashtag. he has to trick us to get us where he knows we need to be. silly pleebs.

Or, might he have anticipated that ANY initial proposal would be shot down (from the left or the right, or by the media), and Ryancare was put forth for that reason?  I think that there was at least a small chance of this strategy.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm kinda wondering if that's why he picked Gorsuch a more moderate choice? 🤔

why fight for a bill you (1) don't like (2) know will fail? there's no reason in that, certainly not to tell the american people 'it's a great bill" if you don't actually believe it or believe it will pass only to say, yeah i knew it sucked and wouldn't get through - that's why i pushed for it!
