heres my situation.

i got a welcome letter from nvc and asking me to submit affidavit of support (i-184) for my wife and son.

my income is below poverty guideline to support total household of 3 (me, my wife and my son).

im living with my dad and working student brother, we live in the same house.

my dad, agreed to submit i-184a along with my i-184 so we can combine our income. our combined income is above poverty guideline that can support up to 6-7 household size.

so here is my problem.

My dad filed his tax return 2016 and claimed my brother as a dependent however even with my brother, my dad and i, along with my wife and son (total of 5 household member). our combined income is still above poverty guideline.

1.) does my brother need to submit another i-184a with his income combine with mine i-184 and my dad i-184a since his a dependent of my dad on his tax return? or me and my dad combine income is enough? if that so, should we add my brother in our counting for household member? how can we add my brother to the household number, do we add it under my 184 or my dad 184a?

i know its confusing. sorry

first they will have to fix things with the IRS, or your brother is your dad's dependent on his taxes, or he declares taxes on his own as single

so if your dad declared him as his dependent, then he doesn't have income and you can't use your brother's income

but your dad will have to add your brother as part of his household size because he declared him as his dependent on his taxes on his i864A

yeah, my dad claimed my brother as his dependent on his tax return...with my income combine with my dads income...it met the income requirments even if we include my brother...

so all i need to make sure is that my dad needs to include my brother on his form 184a right? however, which part of 184a does my dad needs to add my brother.

note: im filing 184 and my dad will file 184a for us to combine our income since we leavr in the same house
