Ink Signature No Longer Required on Affidavits of Support

Hey all, just wanted to confirm what I found in this article is accurate:

"Starting January 1, 2017, the National Visa Center (NVC) will accept photocopies and scanned versions of signed Forms I-864 and associated documents."

 

"This improvement will simplify the submission of financial evidence in support of a visa application, and decrease the rate of visas refused only because the required documents were not available at the time of the visa interview."

 

Am I correct in my understanding that my wife (the beneficiary) will not be required to bring the original, ink signature affidavit of support, signed by our cosponsor, to her interview for a CR-1 visa? Has anyone had any experience recently at an interview where they did not take the ink signature AOS and were approved?

Anyone able to confirm that ink signature not needed at the interview? I have been told that NVC does not require ink signature but that the embassy does. Seems contradictory to what the article states about visas bring denied for not having the AOS with ink signature at the interview.

Yep, checked with various sources and I will be required to bring the wet signature I-864 to the interview. Shame on NVC for the confusing wording.
