Update on the date change from 2/24 to 2/27 (case received by the local office)

I talked to a tier 2 this morning and he was surprised that I was able to check the number on I-797 online. He said that “oh! This is new...”

He told me in their system, my case was “moved” to VSC on 2/26 (I’m a VSC filer, so I’m confused why it was moved to VSC). And he did check online with my I-797 case number and he was like “maybe our system isnt updated yet”.

so he told me to call back on Friday to check where exactly my case is...

Hi all!

Thank you for sharing these great tips!

I’m SO surprised to see that my case (filed Mid June 2017 at VSC) has been received at my local office TODAY! I have reached out to my lawyer but he is on a vacation and haven’t heard back from him! What do you guys think? Do they do that for an interview?

I will update too if I hear/read something!

Thank you!

No, I don't think this action has anything to do with requiring an interview. That's not to say you won't eventually be selected for an interview. I believe this action is happening en masse. All or a sizable # of cases at Vermont and California Service Centers are being forwarded to local offices for processing, to relieve the backlog at CSC and VSC. So instead of a service center employee handling your case, a person at your local office will adjudicate your case. The speed of processing will depend on how fast your local office is.

Mine has also been transferred on 2/25 to local office for processing.

I've seen other people getting approved shortly after case arrives at their local office, so this is awesome news. I wasn't expecting to have this sorted out for like 3-6 more months.

What's funny also is that I didn't get notified of the status update when it was updated online. I had it set up to send me a text message/email. I guess I will continue to check 20 times a day LOL

LOL! I thought i'm the only one who check it every hour.

Exactly. Assuming this massive transfer of caseload to local offices is actually true (there are rumors of a glitch), it isn't necessarily good news for everyone. Local offices that are already super busy with current caseloads may not handle these extra cases expeditiously.
