Hello everyone,

I am very confused about the poverty guidelines on USCIS which is for a household of 2 "myself and my wife" the minimum requirement is $20,300.

Her tax returns aren't enough but if we could provide a bank statement showing that we have $20.3k in our account would that qualify? Or would we need more?

Also she just got a full-time job where she would be making at least 31K a year. Is that something we could provide to immigration to show that even though she hasn't been working the full year yet, that amount is what is expected?

I need some more enlightenment on this subject I've heard a lot but understand very little.

Thanks hope to hear back from anyone willing to respond.

If you want to show assets instead of income, the amount should be 3x the amount needed, so having 20k on the bank won't be enough.

They may accept the current income proof but since she hasn't been working there for at least 6 months, that could be considered as unstable for the time being though. I'd say go find a sponsor.

Good luck
