Good afternoon vj family. My husband an I was married on March 16th. I just returned home. An Im going to file the cr-1 visa it ask for a marriage certificate do I send a copy of the one that was given to me after our ceremony.

you will make a photocopy of the original certificate and attach it to the proof of marriage/relationship

note the certificate should the one issued by the court (marriage registry)

 

you also need him to sign a particular part of the application form

You need to send in a certified copy of the marriage certificate. They're available for purchase at whichever Probate Court issued your marriage license.

The country I was married in was ghana an I want to file as soon as possible. I read I can file with what I have. Just want to make sure need to put things in order

I simply submitted a normal photo copy of our marriage license both during the USCIS and NVC phase. My husband took the original to the interview in Ghana. They never questioned it. You don't need a certified copy.

The above is correct for cr1. The NVC website actually explicitly states you should not include originals with your document submission (most likely because they tend to lose them quite often). 

 

Make a photocopy and bring original plus copy to the interview.

I know it says send a photo copy but can I send in a copy of the one they gave me after we got married. Remember I got married in Ghana so I don't know if they have what they call the office one

I had to go through that nightmare and please don't make the mistake I made.  I sent  USCIS a certified copy of my igleciastical marriage certificate. USCIS sent back a letter with an RFE  asking me to send the civil marriage certificate certified since its the only one they will accept,  and if it's from another country with a language other than English, that certificate needs to be translated to English by a competent translation entity or agent certified by the state

Ok but the marriage certificate that my husband an I signed at the office is that the one I send a copy of. I just don't want to send a copy of that one an then they turn around an say it's not the one I needed to send in

You should always send copies of civil documents take original with you to interview. You do not need certified.

I think you may have sent in the marriage certificate form.  I recieved that when we got married but was also issued a official certificate  with a seal.  I'm not sure how your country works but maybe there'should a wait for the official certificate. I would call the marriage certificate office and ask them for an official certificate see what they tell you
