The moment you said you are going to see a fren that you made on your last trip already made an impression on IO's mind that he is probably your bf. Nobody claims to work part time to take care of dad in rehab and yet leave him for months just to see a fren in US, the IO found something sketchy there. So it was not ur bank statement or such that u got denied. You might wanna vent ur anger to the person who advised you to use that approach.

Not being upfront initially was a really bad idea. Having a sponsor is also not applicable for a tourist visa - you have to show that you can support yourself on your own. The J-1 agency gave you completely wrong advice for a tourist visa, too.

Nothing wrong with someone else funding a B2 trip, happens quite a bit. But "..purpose of trip? visit friend.. boyfriend? no.." probably doomed it.

True, but those tend to go together. If you can't afford it on your own, then usually the visit has something to do with whoever is funding it. ;)

I was referring, in general, to US-based persons funding overseas rels trips. But yeah, this particular thread is a different issue.

Would have been a B2 for tourism, a very weak case. Best to wait until you are more settled before applying again.

Boyfriend is stll a friend, you will get a visa again but not right away

you have visitied B4 & returned home, the problem is you working only

part-time , taking a vacation & cannot prove YOU have an account,mom

account really wont fly and mom is available to babysit dad so that excuse

probably seemed flakey to the IO....If you all had plans to make things permanent

meet in the Bahamas with family and get married then he can sponsor you

Well we aren't ready for all that just yet. Not the type of that rush into things.. Really just want to visit my friends, have a wedding to attend, my friends from other country who are going to attend got their visa approved so they hope I can attend(but they are students, I'm graduated last year) too and they are asking me to try few months later, and of course visit with him also so I can spend time meeting his family and getting to know them and vice versa so maybe one day we are ready to take the next step they know me.

unfortunately, immigration doesnt work that way! you need to figure out if you want to be together and if not you need to cut off ties.. bc u wont get a visitor visa to this country in a very very long time! until you have ties to your home country at least!

in the immigraiton world.. you kinda need to meet someone and go fast! like, i want to marry you fast! because that is the only way you can get a vista to visit.. it sucks, for sure, but malaysia is a higher fraud country so you wont get a b1/2 visa ever.

so figure out what you want to do.

I've been where you're at. As a fellow Malaysian and having gone through the same embassy, my advice are as follows:

  1. Don't re-apply any time soon. We generally do not get paid a lot in Malaysia (besides, after converting it into USD by calculation, it is peanuts to any American consular officer looking at it) so 6 months is frankly insufficient to show considerable amount of change to your circumstances. Wait a couple of years if you still just want a B2.
  2. Work towards strengthening your existing ties in Malaysia for e.g. get back into full time employment and improve your financial ability to fund a tourism trip yourself because truly, a B2 is issued based on your own merits, no one else's.
  3. In the meantime, as others have suggested, meet in a third country. If your intention is only to meet, you can meet anywhere, not necessarily in the US although it's a bit more complicated in terms of hauling his whole family to see you outside the
  4. If you see yourself being with this guy for the long term, it might be the time to have a proper discussion about the difficulty of you obtaining a B2 and ask him whether or not he sees a future together. If yes, you might as well start gathering a bunch of evidence, which would be very useful for a K-1 or CR-1 application some time down the road. I know you haven't talked about marriage and only wants a B2 at the moment but in your case, you need to think further than just what's in the now.

You will feel sad now but don't give up if you want to be together. It will just be tougher and a lot of bureaucracy to be dealt with. Sacrifices are unavoidable in this situation. I wish you all the best for your next course of action :)

agree! this is the BEST advice you can get:)

what is going to be fun for you is if you do decide to merry your boyfriend that you clearly stated you do not have a boyfriend in the us as of the date of this application. then when you apply for the k1 or cr1 you will have to disreguard any relationship evidence evidence from before the interview or else you will prove you lied to an immigration officer. you dug yourself into a nice hole there.

That may or may not come into play

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday
