Well, guys, I was surprised today when my hubby got home for dinner and handed me a First Notice of Action(NOA1). It seems the process begins. At least, it warmed me up.

Just wondering....how did you know you got the NOA1 on 4/6 if you just got it in the mail yesterday?

Is there a way to find out online before getting it in the mail?

If you dont want it to be this long, make your signature without so much information, because if someone wants ALL the info and dates they can click on the TIMELINE link under your name and that will show them all the steps, dates, etc...

Yep, I got it yesterday but in the notice it is stated there the "Received Date" and the "NOA1 Date" with given Receipt Number. Once you get your NOA1, you can check your status online by registering the USCIS site using your Receipt Number. For me, may be it's not the matter when you received it in the mail but it's the matter when they touched or started the process.(Correct me if I am wrong.)

I see that many of you are still posting on the March filers thread, and thought I'd start one for April since a search didn't reveal one.

We began the AOS process when our attorney filed on 3/27/07, and docs were sent to the lockbox. They weren't signed for until 4/2, so I guess we can put ourselves in the April group.

Let the process begin!

We hope to file in the next week or so and frankly, I'm just ready to get this paperwork out of the way!! We thought we'd be filing at the end of March, then last week (Good Friday), and here we are - still dawdling!

I think we will feel better once the paperwork is out - but for now there's this immense feeling of nervousness of "starting the process" (at least on my part).

Anyway, I'm determined to be an April filer...and hopefully receive my first NOA soon:-)

We were supposed to married in a court wedding shortly after I arrived in Feb. but family persisted and we waited until March...then things came up and not having a computer, and lacking in cash at that moment meant working from the library and saving up money before we could file!

And I know what you mean by having papers all over the place! lol

Our Mayor did our wedding this past weekend, and we didn't tell anyone in order to prevent that from happening!! Everyone would have wanted to be there!!

We're just waiting on the marriage certificate to get filing!!

Good to hear that your checks cashed today. Well, mine was cashed last Monday. I know that your NOA1 is on the way now.

Still waiting for my NOA. Checks weren't cashed yet either...

I sent the AOS on 4/4 and it arrived in Chicago on 4/8. I am now waiting for the NOA, hope it will be here soon.

I will move to the west coast by the end of this month, hope we can find a place to live soon, so I can file for change of address and I will not miss anything!

I am really worried about this!

I'm filing my EAD and AOS package to the Chicago lockbox on Monday. So I'll be in the April filer's group.
