Got RFE for birth certificate today. Weird because that was already submitted that with the AOS application.

Well, we had our I-130 interview yesterday with a female officer. They spoke to us individually (which we'd been told to expect because of the circumstances).

Forgive me for not knowing details, etc, but what circumstances?

Now, we're waiting on the biometrics to be returned. They told us to plan on having a final answer by May 17th.

It sounds like it went well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both over the next few weeks!

Not sure if that would be too useful since RFEs can happen for specific reasons or no reasons at all. I think tracking RFEs during the IMBRA fiasco was useful though since everyone during that time was affected by it.

Sorry to hear this, may be they were not satisfied what you submitted. Did they say something else why they need your birth certificate again or something authenticated?

Here is update

Checks cashed as April 27, 2007; still waiting for mail.

Went for my biometrics today. Took us the 2 hours that it normally does to get to the city, drove around the block 3 times trying to find parking, everything open was in front of a fire hydrant. We finally found one, right in front of the office we needed to go into.

We were 25 minutes early but went in anyway, showed my papers - 30 seconds, filled out form - 3 minutes, waited 3 minutes, fingerprints and photo took 7 minutes. Sent on my merry way.

All in all we were out of there and back on the highway before my scheduled appointment time even hit the clock.

Not complaining, whatsoever. I would of driven 5 hours for this 13 minute appointment, makes you feel like you are really in the system and they haven't forgotten about you.

I hope the interview goes just as smoothly.

Oh yeah, then we drove the 2 hours back home

Ho many days does it take USCIS to cash the checks??

No, nothing specific. Just says that birth certificate is needed to process the application! I was reading some other posts where people mentioned uscis sending rfe for stuff already submitted. Anyways, I am simply going to send them the birth certificate again.

Yeah, sometimes they lose stuff or maybe aren't looking very carefully. I'd just send it to them again. I sent them copies of 2 versions of my birth certificate. A "short form" wallet sized one and a "long form" which is a certified copy of my original birth registry. Wasn't sure which one USCIS would want so I sent them both.

Mine only came in the mail. We waited 10 days for ours and then had the apoointment 5 days later.
