The processing dates website has been updated as of April 18th:

I-485 Cases are October 13, 2006 (187 day backlog)

I-765 Cases are January 27, 2007 (81 day backlog)

So

If your receipt dates are April 15th (average for the month)

You are looking at your cases being handled:

I-485 Cases are October 19, 2007

I-765 Cases are July 5, 2007

And this is approximately what it was last update, so things appear to be moving along as expected.

I thought I heard on here that those processing dates are for employment-based I-485's, not family-based ones. Anyone know for sure?

Yes, if someone would clarify for me I would appreciate. I will update/correct if necessary. Thanks

Hi There! I got confirmation from USPS that my package was received in Chicago yesterday (4-25-07). You can update me if you want :D

Hi,

I sent my package via USPS to the Texas Service Center today. So count me in...please!

I have a couple of questions:

1. do i also have to add my name to the mailbox ASAP? my wife is right now the only person registered for the mailbox

2. the guy at the mail shop told me that the USPS service works 99.9% of the times.. (he told me..you are dealing with usps so you don't know what is it going to happen..) is it true? i sent the package certified.

Thanks!

Pepe G

What part of the case? I-130? I-485? or all of them

I filed only the I-485 case, so that is it.

Well, we had our I-130 interview yesterday with a female officer. They spoke to us individually (which we'd been told to expect because of the circumstances). I was in the interview with my attorney for about 40 minutes, then the woman chatted with my husband for 30 minutes, then brought me back in for probably 3 minutes to clarify a date. I'd remembered it wrong the first time around, then when she brought me back in, I still said 1999, because that what I'd believed to be the truth. Then the interviewing officer said, well, your husband indicated 2001, to which I replied, well, in any case, it was several years ago, and we've been through immigration hell for the past two and a half years, so maybe I have it wrong. My attorney joked with the officer (he was obviously very familiar with her), and said, "do you know where you and your husband had lunch one day in Dec. of 2006?" She laughed and said, "No, of course not", to which he responded, "My point exactly!" Then, he called her by her first name, and asked when we could expect an answer, and she said it would be less than a week for her portion of the paperwork.

I didn't find out until after the fact that they'd called my family in another state just before they'd called me into the room. When I found out, it helped to explain the pattern of some of the officer's questions. My attorney said we have more bona fide relationship proofs than anyone he's seen in recent years, and that he's "99.99% confident that everything went well". I'd submitted tons of phone bills showing his family's #s, joint credit cards, utility bills, receipts, cards/letters to/from each other, 5 affidavits from friends/family, a photo of a portrait he'd ad drawn for me with him, me, and my children and his child from last Christmas, etc. It was all in a legal binder over 6 inches thick, and I'd eliminated a ton of auxiliary documents, but told her I had more available, if needed.

Most of the questions were fairly benign, and she followed up on just a few of them. We were asked things like each others full names/birthdates, each others kids names/birthdates, whether we had met each other's ex's, examples of events we'd attended together, the name of my kids schools and their favorite activities and how involved he is in their lives (he's one of their biggest cheerleaders!), asked about our wedding rings and if the other knew the prices, asked to see our joint credit cards, asked to see that I'd changed things like my bank account and SSN to my married name, how we'd met, when we first had sex, where we'd gone on typical dates, who we'd met in each other's families, whether I'd met his parents who live overseas, etc. All in all, even though we were grilled with questions, when my husband and I got to talk around noon yesterday, our answers were near perfect matches. Now, we're waiting on the biometrics to be returned. They told us to plan on having a final answer by May 17th.

3/22 Got married (civil ceremony--I'm the USC)

3/22 Took license to courts to get a certified copy of our marriage certificate

3/27 Our attorneys mailed the AOS package to the lockbox (They said they've never done one so quickly.)

4/2 Applied for Social Security card in my new married name, along with updating my drivers license and beginning to change names on all of our household bills, adding each other on to credit cards, insurance, etc.

4/3 Received receipt notice

4/9 Received my new Soc Card in the mail

4/10 My husband received his biometrics notice for 4/25

4/12 At immigration office with attorney, and they agreed to do biometrics on the spot, rather than wait until the 4/25 appt.

4/16 Received I-797 stating that case was transferred to local USCIS office to "speed up processing of I-130"

4/21/07 Received notice of I-130 interview from the local office to come in for an interview

4/26/07 Met with an immigration officer in separate interviews. All seemed to go well! We should hear back from them within a week. Our attorney said their office will receive an email on status as soon as it's available.

I can hardly wait to have the full wedding ceremony with family and friends!
