Hi guys!!! I need help with the passport renewal. I am from the Philippines. Today I was trying to submit my renewal application for my passport (epassport application). I got my visa through K1 visa. When I was looking for the requirements at the Philippine Embassy Website I run Through this:

FOR A MARRIED WOMAN USING HER HUSBAND’S SURNAME FOR THE FIRST TIME

  1. In case of woman married in the U.S.: one (1) original and one (1) photocopy of the Report of Marriage (ROM) issued by the Philippine Consulate where the marriage took place.
  2. In case of woman married in the Philippines: one (1) original or certified true copy and one (1) photocopy of PSA Marriage Certificate  [Apply Here for your PSA document/s].

And since my passport asa Issued after May 1,1995 the 2nd requirement is

   2. PSA Marriage Certificate or PSA Report of Marriage (if using the married name); and

I got my Cenomar 8 years ago for K1 visa. Now that I am married do I need to get the Report of Marriage (ROM) for renewing my passport? or PSA Marriage Certs? ( This will be my first renewal of passport since I got here).

I have all the supporting documents but not the ROM issued by the Philippine Consulate.

I am hoping somebody here can help me.

Thanks

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

If you want to renew your passport with your husbands surname you need to do a ROM before you can file for a passport from the Philippines consulate in Chicago. I don't think Chicago is a consulate that allows you to do both at the same time(I may be wrong), but usually that is for in person anyway. The ROM is not hard at all you just have to follow the requirements and you should be fine.

You need to complete ROM, then you will be good to complete your passport renewal in your married name.

Follow the requirements on the CONSULATE website, not what is listed IF you were in the Philippines (unless you are presently there)

Thank you guys for your responses. I really appreciate it. I heard from the civil registry in the Philippines and the certificate was already dispatched yesterday. But, they told me  "The initial processing of your online request resulted to Negative Certification". What does  this mean? What will be the next step? Thank you so much for the help.

Google is your friend:

If you have previously requested for your NSO certificate from the PSA and received a negative certification, this means that you currently do not have any record available in PSA's database. ... You need to check with your local civil registrar if you have an existing record of your NSO certificate.
