For the interview, since I have to go to Montreal for it (5 hour flight for someone with a fear of flying....), I was wondering how long I had to stay in the town after the interview? Could I fly in one day, take the interview the next day, then fly out the following day? I want to stay for as little time as possible so I can take as few days off of work as I can.

I am also going to Montreal for mine (from New Brunswick) and I plan on going the afternoon before to get my bearings/ make sure I am there on time and then I will fly home the evening of the interview.

Many have flew into Montreal, interviewed, and flew out the same day.  Just make sure you account for the weather, flight delays, traffic, transportation, and finding the embassy in regards to your interview time.

If you haven't already, read up on the Montreal consulate reviews section here on VJ.  Many members have written about their experience, and have offered a lot of tips and advice regarding the interview and their time in Montreal.

I was concerned about weather delays (my interview was Dec 2015) so I arrived a day early, just in case.  There is an express bus service that runs from the airport to Downtown, much cheaper than a taxi (unlimited travel for 24 hrs for $10) http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/bus/shuttle/747-aeroport-p-e-trudeau-centre-ville-shuttle.

You will also need enought time to go pick up your medical before the interview. (Assuming you do your medical in Montreal). So going a day early allowed for that.  You can leave just after your interview,  but take into account that your scheduled interview time is best case.  My interview time was 8am, I didn't get called to the first window until 930, and no interview until almost 11.  It was 1145 when I exited the building.  Add at least another hour for travel to the airport (more if you are taking the bus).  My scheduled flight out was 3pm, which worked perfectly.

Hope this helps.  Good luck!
