I received the EAD/AP combo card!

One thing I want to mention is that my status still says 'Card is Being Produced'. After reading some experiences from some of you where you say that sometime the status doesn't change, I decided to call USCIS yesterday to find out if it was mailed out to me and I was told that 'it is still being produced' and to wait up to 30 or 60 days..one or the other, can't remember now. - so I guess Customer Service doesn't know much and they see exactly what we see online.

CONGRATULATIONSSS Flower1 ! This is the best way to start ur weekend :D!!!

Thanks also for the tip, at least now we know that from production to receipt - it should take a week!

Below is a quick summary of today's trip to our local USCIS office in Philadelphia for an Infopass appointment. The main concern was my wife's EAD/AP card being past the usual 90 day processing time frame. I've collapsed the summary into a "spoiler" section since it's a little long and some people might not want to read the whole thing.

So, here goes:

  Reveal hidden contents
  • We arrived right at 1:00 PM for our 1:15 PM appointment, which was good since the registration window didn't reopen until after the ISO's finish their lunch breaks at 1:00 PM.
  • We went through airport-style security although we didn't have to take off our shoes. :)
  • The guy at the registration window (#1) was pleasant and helpful although all he did was ask us about our reason for visiting and assigned us a number. (Side note: I thought we already supplied this information when we made the appointment.)
  • We went back and sat down. We were called up about 5 minutes later and approached ISO Benedict's window. He was easy to talk with although not particularly chatty or jovial. Par for the course?
  • I explained our concern that my wife's application was received on April 13 with no further notices (beyond biometrics appointment on May 26 and SR response on August 7). He was able to tell me that my wife's EAD/AP application was in front of an officer as of August 8. Her interview was also in queue to be scheduled as of July 28. I told him that she's a K1 adjuster and was curious to know if the interview had been waived at this point. He said there was nothing on his screen showing one way or another.
  • He also mentioned that the "new administration" is causing lots of people to apply for various immigration benefits which is causing a backlog. (Not sure I believe that one, but I figured people here would be interested in hearing this.)
  • Here's something interesting I learned: because my wife applied for an EAD/AP combo card, the ISO said that both applications must be adjudicated together. (Sounds to me like another silly excuse for processing to take longer.)
  • I asked whether our case was being held up by something like an FBI Name Check, background check, etc. and he was able to tell me that "no derogatory information" was associated with our file. So that's good to know, at least!
  • He started talking about going down the expedite route and I asked what options we had. The reasons include financial hardship, humanitarian concerns, or a pending job offer. Unfortunately, my wife can't claim any of these. I asked whether it would make sense to bother with that at this point since her case is already in the hands of an adjudicator. He agreed that it probably wouldn't speed things up at this point.
  • He said that we should wait another 30 days before contacting USCIS. If we hear nothing, he encouraged us to make another Infopass appointment and skip the other channels. And here's the kicker: he specifically said to avoid calling the (mis-)information line/customer service!
  • Overall this was a productive visit, although I walked out the same way I walked in...we still need to wait. :(
  • We were out the door by 2 pm and made our way to the grocery store to grab some hot peppers and Thai basil for dinner tonight!

That's it!

Hello... so after 106 days from my priority date I had my biometrics appointment yesterday. For three months I hadn't received anything, but in the last two weeks I got three letters for the same biometrics appointment. From what I understand, the EAD takes around 110-150 days to be received. Will the delay in my biometrics appointment affect that timeline? Do I have to wait another four months to receive it, or will it be processed sooner? I guess all the people who filed by the end of April and just got our biometrics are in the same boat.

It depends really.

In my case, my interview schedule has been updated before my EAD/AP application was approved.

You can only wait. It depends on the workload that your field office has on when your AOS will be processed. You may or may not have the interview as well. It could be waived. But it is not clear on what circumstances will the interview be waived.

Congrats on getting your EAD/AP! :)

Wait for at least 2 months before you hear from them again.

If you want, you may also contact USCIS and check with them as I believe you are allowed to call and make a service request as soon as your application has hit the 76th day of being active. I am just not sure whether it applies to those whose biometrics has just been recently done.

Best of luck! :)

A little tip to those whose applications have already gone past 90 days without any news about their EAD/AP.

CALL USCIS and ASK FOR A TIER 1 OR TIER 2. They are higher than the agent who takes your call and can do some things that a normal agent cannot do.

It is also noted on the USCIS website that  you can actually start calling them for an update regarding your EAD/AP as soon as your application hits the 76th day of being active.

You may also request to EXPEDITE as long as your case falls under the acceptable criteria and you can provide proofs that you are going through that situation on which your request for expediting the case was raised.

Not everything that the agent is telling you is true. I have had an agent tell me that EAD/AP's normal processing time is 120 DAYS only to find out from a supervisor that that wasn't the case and it is still 90 days approximately to have it processed. I reported that agent. HOW? Every time you call USCIS and an agent picks up the call, the agent will mention his AGENT ID and AGENT NAME at the beginning. Make sure you capture the information. It will prove to be useful in the future.

Good luck to us all. :)

Hello, fellow April fillers.

So the big day was yesterday, I got my GC interview.  in the morning was nervous as hell, but... My interview went great, our immigration officer was more interested in how to pronounce my and my family names than anything else. It was more like a conversation than an interview and me and my hubby were so relieved. It lasted about 10 minutes and then officer asked us to wait in the waiting room. he came back 10 minutes later with a letter saying CONGRATULATIONS! your application has been approved. :jest::jest::jest:

What he asked us, besides the questions from the application was:

1. How many people attended our wedding?

2.Have my husband met my parents?

3. Do we have any pictures? I handed him about 20 of those and he went through them asking where it was taken. He asked to pick 5, so he could keep them.

4. Our joint assets?

5. He asked my husband if I ever tried to hit him with a pan after he asked me those questions from application about the guns. :D

That's it. Very easy and very simple. Now just anxiously waiting for my GC. And will be done with USCIS....for 1,5 years :D

P.S. our interview was observed by 2 interns with our permission.
