Just wanted to give an update on my situation in case it's useful for someone else.

My USCIS receipts (485, 130, 131 & 765) are dated 04/25 & I haven't heard anything yet - no updates online. I called  USCIS & submitted a SR, turns out if you haven't had a bio-metrics yet you only need to wait 30 days to submit an SR for that, I'm a little annoyed I didn't follow up sooner as I read that you need to wait 75-90 days for any SR. USCIS said I should have an update in 15 business days & to call back if I don't receive anything.

Lesson learnt: When in doubt call USCIS directly for advice!! I'll be all over this from here on out!

Have a great week people!

Hi guys, I have entered America and was starting the AOS petition. I am finding the petition really confusing. Can someone please guide me? and is there is any example of the new 18 pages i485?

hey... welcome to the US... that is a very vague question and the best way to deal with it is to read all these guides... the only difference from the guide below is that you have to file i-130 A instead of the g325a which is biographic information... almost all the answers are exactly what you think they are... you can google questions you have confusion about and usually you fill find out exactly how to answer it... most importantly download the latest forms and the form filling instructions from USCIS website and follow all the directions in there... good luck with your process...

And do I need SSN to fill out i - 765?

I honestly think you need to read the I-130 and I-485 instruction. I am sure your spouse can speak and understand English by this point. If you want to avoid delays and RFE, you must read the instruction, most of forms on the web are for the old forms, which you can't submit.

And to answer your question, you don't SSN, and it depends from Civil surgeon to another. Some might ask you wait for 1-2 weeks and others can take you right away. Check USCIS website for CS in your area, and call them to get more details.

And AGAIN, read the instruction better, as I think if you are on k-1, you don't need a new medical report.

@Antriksh you are welcome and I do think everything @ahas44 has said is great advice and you should not depend on examples on the web to completely fill out your forms as most of them are outdated but if you google single questions including question numbers you will have better luck and as he said you really need to read the instructions that comes with the latest forms on the USCIS website as they are pretty detailed and easy to understand especially since you are from India and most educated people from India have more than enough knowledge of English to fill out these forms themselves as most of our education uses English as the primary language...

You don't need an SSN to file i-765 as most people filing it as part of their i-485 package don't have the right to work in the US before they file it, so just leave it blank (unless you happen to have one already)...

The civil surgeon thing is a bit more straight forward and there are a couple of options you can use to your advantage... you have to get an appointment and get it done sooner or later but it will cost you anywhere from 150 to 450 dollars usually depending on where you are located, what all vaccinations you need to get and who you choose to go with, having said that, if you want to split your expenses a little bit, you don't have to get that done before you file, you can bring it with you in the sealed envelope the doctor gives you to the interview and that is what I am doing... I didn't get it done before i filed and they will send you a letter saying you should either mail it in after or bring it with you to the interview but they themselves suggested in the letter that I bring it to the interview... It didn't affect the speed with which they dealt with my application either as my interview is scheduled for August 2nd... I also read somewhere that people who are adjusting their status from K1 only need to supply a vaccination list or something like that instead of the whole report but I'm not an expert in that section so I would suggest you look it up on google again... Lastly as you are adjusting from K1, if you are lucky they wont even need an interview with you, in that case sending in the doctors form by mail would be the only option...

P.S. : you should definitely shop around for a Doctor too as the first person I called said it would cost me close to 500 dollars while the second one who was nicer to deal with told me it depends on what all vaccinations I needed and it would start at 125 dollars and go up from there, it ended up costing me 150 dollars all in...

Hello: we have similar timelines and like you haven't received anything apart for the recepts. I am still waiting for my biometrics. Don't get your hopes up with the SR, I have done one every 30 days and all I got was that my petition was in preprocessing checks and when I call last week again I was told that probably my local office was too busy. I noticed other blogs where people from march, April and May still waiting for biometrics. We are all in the same boat. So frustrating.

Wow, thanks for the heads up. This is super annoying because I know people in my neighbourhood who applied around the same time or after me & already have EAD/AP. All have done bio-metrics at the very least. Some are going from E-3 to green card (as I am), others from F-1/J-1/O-1 to green card... I don't know why mine is taking so long when we have the same office. I filled it out very carefully & made a list of all required documents to include. I wouldn't be too bothered but I must have AP for December :/

Fingers crossed hey. Best of luck to you Fairylou!

Howdy everyone I would like to share some information on my SR done today 75 days since PD 04/28/2017. So I put in a SR for my EAD today online on USCIS website and got this message below:

"As of July 12, 2017, your inquiry about the status of your Employment Authorization application, referral number SR11******************, is currently not assigned for processing."

Has anyone here experience anything like this? Please share your experiences.

It did that to me too at two times n then I realize that I need to have all the information at hand then quickly fill it out n submit. The last part where it ask you who is filling out this form just select petitioner n then submit. Remember u have to do this very quickly. My experience!

Quick question: I sent my response to a Request for Initial Evidence last week that was received and signed by USCIS this past Saturday, July 8th, as shown by USPS tracking I had on it. Any idea roughly how long I should wait for the case status to update with the acknowledgement that they've receipt my response or are there any other actions I can take? I'm a bit scared because the 87 day response deadline is on July 20th.
