I just received a USCIS acceptance confirmation e-mail at 9:34 pm that my case has been accepted and routed to the National Benefits Center and that I should be receiving the I-797 in 7 to 10 days. I guess the checks will be cashed tomorrow morning :D

Cool! We have a pretty similar AOS timeline. Also, I got married the day after you did! :)

Congrats!

I would say 'Game on! I will race you to the green card!' but we did not send 2016 tax returns so I know I am getting a RFE for that. You will probably win :)

Also anyone got a new alien number on the NOAs? I think I will have to create a post for that in the general forum, it is worrying me a bit.

So, I just received three I-797s: one each for my AOS, AP, and EAD respectively.

Does this mean everything is kosher, and that there's no chance of an RFE, or is that still a possibility?

The wording for the AOS was just little odd though on the USCIS tracker app thing. It said something along the lines of my fingerprint fee having been accepted . Is that normal?

Congrats!

Yeah, RFE is still a possibility. NOA1 just means that they received it (maybe somebody was assigned to it, it was put in an appropriate folder etc.), not that they checked if it is complete and good to go.

Also, the wording on the app is correct. USCIS uses the same wording on their website. It also means you included the correct fee, so all's well for now.

Thank you for clearing that up.

I'm slightly concerned about the whole poverty line thing. My wife and I are well over the threshold with our combined income; however, I've been told that as I've been working without my EAD (albeit paying taxes and all above board) my income will not count towards this. As it stands my wife's income alone falls short of the threshold by $61 and so I'm concerned about an RFE regarding that.

Anyway, in true American form, tentative 'high fives' all round.

High five indeed!

Your income unfortunately does not count and you will probably get an RFE for falling short of the threshold.

How long has she been working at the same place? Did you include an employer letter indicating the duration? I feel like they might overlook the $61 dollars if she has had a steady job and income for a while, and tax records indicate this. Also do you have savings? You can try to supplement her earnings with assets/savings by transferring all of the savings to her account maybe? In either case, I recommend you start working on getting a joint sponsor to make sure things go swimmingly if it comes down to it. A joint sponsor can be a USC family member or a friend.

Good luck and fingers crossed for no RFEs!

I read that they might overlook it for people who sent the docs before April 15th. I also read that if they start adjudicating the case after April 15th, even if you sent the docs beforehand, they might send an RFE for tax returns.

I sent the documents after April 15th, and even though some of them were dated earlier because I filled them out in a span of two weeks, I am pretty sure I have an RFE coming my way, hopefully sooner than later if so.

She's been at her current job for roughly a year-and-a-half and, yes, we included a glowing employment letter and all the required tax returns etc. She has a pension plan and a small amount of stocks/bonds. Hopefully these combined will suffice if we receive an RFE. I'd like to think such a small shortfall will be overlooked, and that maybe, if the individual(s) assessing my case is/are kind-hearted, it won't be an issue. But, judging by how strict USCIS is in general I wouldn't be surprised if we do receive an RFE.

I'll be crossing all fingers and toes for the next couple of months by the sound of it.

Thanks for all your feedback.
