We are in the Houston office, and we went to an infopass today. We were told they are working on Jan 2017 cases. We are June 2017 and they told us to expect a response in about 6 months.

Can't you renewal your driver's license with your NOA1 from Combo Card extension? I talked to Tier 2 officer and she told me I could do that, but that could also easily be a lie lol

unfortunately I went to the DPS office 2 weeks ago and they refused the NOA1 + 180 say extension. They said only EAD card is accepted to renew driver's.

I felt so sad and cried a lot since I am now pregnant and feeling sensitive. I need to drive to office and hospital to my appointments. My husband was with me and they did not care the extension. DPS in highway 3 in Houston.

I called USCIS and they said that the timing to get the EAD renewal is 4-6 months ... it used to take 90 days. This is crazy.

Take the original NOA1 for I485 and take your passport. Pending applicants for asjustment of status are allowed to get a drivers license under DPS regulations. That’s how I got a year drivers license without EAD. They will have to do a second verification on the save system. You will have to go home and wait about a week for a letter and then you take it back to the DPS and they will issue the DL.

Look on page 3 under aplicants for adjustment of status. Read it all, print it and take it with you. They turn me away and I showed them I was elegible and then they allowed me to get it.

So after a year and four months waiting for news, I got an RFE:( First news I have since I applied.Thi TgisThi
They want me to send them a new medical exam (because my application was over a year ago, so the one I submitted is not valid anymore). I have to do this by August 18.
Please, any advice on this?? I have no idea what to do.
I'm in Austin, TX. Anybody knows a good surgeon in Austin who speaks Spanish (my vaccine records are in Spanish), and who isn't super expensive??

For anyone who's still waiting for their green card at this point, in addition to contacting your senator/representative, I'd also consider involving the CIS Ombudsman. Although I've never had to go that far, I definitely considered it. Here is a quote from their web site which explains the criteria for engaging their office:

If you waited 60 days past USCIS processing times and have tried the USCIS customer service options listed above but still need help resolving a problem with an application or petition, you can ask the Ombudsman’s Office for help.

We first applied for the I-485, EAD and AP on April 25, 2017.  On July 13, 2017, the AOS case status changed to "We are scheduling your interview.  You do not need to do anything at this time."

We contacted our representative when we had been waiting for the EAD/AP for 120 days, and we got the combo card a few days later.

We applied for EAD and AP renewals 120 days ago and still haven't heard any updates about the I-485 nor the renewals.  The combo card expires in less than a month, along with my wife's driver license.

We haven't tried very hard to get through the helpdesk to someone at USCIS this time because it was hard enough when they still had reasonable time frames posted on their web site.  Now, the web site says that for family-based i-485 applications in Houston, they won't so much as accept a case inquiry until 30.5 months after filing.

We have an Infopass appointment later this week. If that doesn't work, I'll appeal to our representative again.

It doesn't make sense that it "normally" takes 3 years to process an application for a 2-year greencard...

This is a good idea, although it looks like the Ombudsman's office won't consider engaging with us until we've been waiting at least another year.  It seems like it might be more realistic to move to another city that has faster processing times.

Today, I called the help desk in advance of our Infopass appointment, so that I could at least say I tried.  After several tries and a lot of waiting on hold and being disconnected while on hold, I finally reached a Level 1 representative.  She was adamant that our case is still in the normal processing time frame, since it has been less than 30 months since we applied.

The automated system says that our case file is currently in Lee's Summit, Missouri.  From my perspective, this seems to indicate a problem, since 1) the online status page says our case has been in "scheduling your interview" status for over a year, and 2) I would expect interviews to be scheduled in the office where they will occur (Houston, Texas, not Lee's Summit, Missouri).  I tried to insist that this seems to be a problem and that I'm concerned our case was lost, but the representative stood her ground and would only suggest that we get an Infopass appointment if we believe there's a problem with our case.

I also talked to her about the EAD renewal that was filed 120 days ago.  She said that USCIS is currently taking 7 months to process EAD applications, so it will be a few more months before they get to ours.  I told her that we are very concerned about my wife losing her job because USCIS is backed up and asked if there is a way we could get a temporary extension while we wait for USCIS to make a decision.  She referred me to their Automatic 180-day Extension policy on the USCIS web site, saying that the employer has the option of accepting the combination of the expired EAD document and timely I-797 receipt notice as evidence of her authorization to work (for another 180 days).
