Did you get the job? It's getting frustrating here in Dallas where it's basically been a year. I know two people who filed a month after me who already got their interviews? How is that possible?

No job until I have the Green Card. The most frustrating thing now is that I have to renew the EAD and AP because they expire in August and I don't want to risk anything.

HI,

we filed for AOS in April 2017 and we will have our AOS Interview on May 17th!

Technically my medicam exam is expired, because it is over a year since filling for AOS.

Does someone have the same situation like me? We never received a RFE for the medical. Do I have to get a new one for the interview? We don't want to cause any trouble...

Maybe you had the same situation and went to the interview without a new medical? Please share me your stories!

Hi rocknfreak,

I was not in the exact same situation but I filed in April 2017, had the interview on March 27th but my medical was done in February 2017 so I was not sure if I had to do a new one, I went without a new one and they never mentioned the medical exam.

Good luck!

My case status has finally been updated to "Testing and Interview." The interview notice has been sent out. Almost a year to the date they received my case.

The status says "Employment-Based" Interview when it's "Marriage-Based." Is that just a minor error or should I be concerned?

Theres nothing need to worry, so many people got "Employment based interview " which it should be ".marriage based"

We had our interview today at New York City's Federal Palaza. About a year after we initially filed. We arrived at around 10:54 and had to race into thr building. Our appointment was 11:00. We barley made it, we were called as soon as we checked in. The immigration officer came in - a petite lady, very stoic. She appeared as if she was about to drill us. We walked to the back of her office and got sworn in. We did not have a lawyer with us. After, she seemed to be the nicest person ever and very friendly. However, our lawyer had informed us to not get complacement about friendliness. Her first question was what's the biggest personality  difference between my spouse and I. She asked about our future plans, we both responded that we wanted to further our education - she seemed pretty pleased with our responses. She then asked how we found our apartment. This is where we explained our situation. After, she asked why we decided to get married. She then took a look at pictures and asked us about it. She then said, where did we plan on spending our upcoming anniversary. She then took some documents for her file and gave us back the rest. That was pretty much it. She was very warm throughout the interview. It felt more like a conversation - we got in a few laughs as well. She then went through the standard yes and no questions and handed me a white paper letting me know that it is being held for review. I was kind of sad by this... Then she said it's standard procedure and everything is good for approval and I would be very happy because I was not going to get the conditional/temporary green card, and i would receive the permanent one in a few days. When we left she shook our hands and wished us the best with school and life. About 30-45 minutes later, I received a text stating that the green card was in orodictuon. My spouse and I were super nervous because we were living apart at the time of filing, however I believe she saw from the get go how comfortable we were with each other and the personal details we were able to describe to her that only a couple would know. All in All, we made a big fuss about everything and it lasted about 15 minutes and went extremely well. I would advise anyone to prepare for the worst and hope for the best!

Hi, are you sure you will not be receiving a conditional green card? Have you been married for 2 years?

Nothing new on my case so I sent in all the paperwork for the EAD renewal

Sigh. Have you tried contacting your representative/senator yet?

Yes I have contacted them and they said that Denver is backlogged and it can take up to another 6 months until an interview is scheduled.

So i just wait now for the new EAD and maybe in September or after I get an interview letter

Glad to hear that. How often does your representative/senator's office provide you with updates? My representative e-mailed us every two weeks, even if it was just to say that our case was still in queue for an interview. (It felt good to know that at least someone cared about us, even if USCIS didn't!)

At least you're on the right track with EAD renewal. I know how frustrating it is for your spouse to be without "identification" even though an EAD is a federal ID. So sorry to hear that you're still waiting over a year since you filed your AOS forms!
