AOS processing speed is mostly influenced by the particular local office handling your case. Right now the Philly office has a 7 month backlog. I'd imagine Ohio and some other places with fewer AOS cases move faster than, say New York or LA.

I also thought, that the case is in the field office. But during infopass they told us that our case is still in benefit center though I got "ready to be scheduled" status 2,5 months ago.

Ah, sorry. So from what I've read here on VJ, every AOS case starts out at NBC (National Benefits Center) and is eventually transferred to a local office if an interview is being held, which is the case for many AOS cases. For my wife, it's possible that our interview will be waived as she's adjusting from a K1 visa. We're still in the "fingerprint fee was received" stage. No update since April 26. I'll be submitting a service request in October.

I also thought like that , but now I am sure if being in benefit center so long is a standard situation :(

What time are we allowed to put SR about 485? My pd is may 25 and I am gonna do it.

As far as I know you can't really register an SR for I-485 because it does not have what we call a 'normal processing timeline'. When I called before for my EAD, the rep told me that AOS and AP depends on the workload of the office, so for EAD, you can register an SR but not for AOS. The rep told me that even if I call after 6months or 8 months, I would still be considered "within the normal processing time" because AOS has no definite deadline for an update.

But I would say, still give it a try. Maybe that rep is just messing with me. Let us know how it goes.

Best of luck!

So, this may be a slightly redundant question or, similarly, quite obvious. But, as my wife and I had been married longer than two years before I finally got around to filing the AOS package is it, therefore, more likely (or even mandatory) that I won't get an interview?

I received my EAD/AP approximately two months ago, and my status has been at the 'ready to be scheduled for an interview' stage since July 31st.

Am I basically looking at foregoing an interview and, thus, waiting longer for approval owing to the increased likelihood that USCIS don't feel the need to verify the validity of our marriage?

Hope everyone who filed in April has had successful developments on their cases!

There is still a chance that you are going to be interviewed. It does not matter how long you've been married.

But since you have been married for more than 2yrs, when you get your greencard, it will be a 10yr greencard and not just the 2yr greencard. :)

Hello there. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I was already aware of that; kind of offsets the whole having waited to sort out the EAD/AP for so long and all the inconveniences that went with it (not being able to work legally, and having been unable to return home for a family funeral). At least I won't have to worry about filing ROC down the line.

Suppose there's still no rhyme or reason to how they decide who and when to interview AOS claimants. At least I can spend Christmas in Wales this year.

The wait continues!

Yes , I got it this week :)

Just I want some progress on my aos very much! At least for the moment to get an interview date. Also I worry about my case still not being transferred to the field office.

Congrats on the EAD! Now the jobhunting begins!

It is more frustrating to wait while being unemployed. At least you can keep yourself busy while waiting for any update on the AOS. Waiting for the interview to be scheduled can take 4 months or more. Where is your field office btw?

TIPS FOR JOBHUNTING

Sign up in the following job sites:

1. Indeed

2. Glassdoor

3. LinkedIn

4. Monster

5. CareerBuilder

MORE TIPS:

Edit your resumes too and make sure it's only a maximum of 2 pages, remove your photo if there is any. Resumes here in the US do not have photos as part of their "no discrimination" policy.

Make sure you have a reliable transportation as it is ALWAYS one of the concerns of employers here in the US. If you tell them you're going to take an Uber to work, that's a no no. So if you haven't already done something about being able to drive here in the US, do it now while looking for a job or do it and then look for a job.

Best of luck! :)
