Can I do a walk-in perhaps? I saw a line at the SF office for walk-ins; I'm not sure if it were only for biomterics only.

I would caution against trying to do a walk-in Infopass appointment. Biometrics? Sure. There are plenty of folks in this thread (and others) who've successfully done walk-in biometrics appointments without issue. Infopass is unfortunately a different beast altogether. The only suggestion I have is to check offices in the surrounding area. For example, I went to the Philadelphia office which had very few appointments. Yet, one across the bridge in New Jersey had tons of openings. Might be worth the trip if you've tried the SR and/or Tier 2 ISO routes already.

Thanks! I'll keep checking everyday to see if there's a slot available. I'm unable to raise an SR for I-485, I think it's not possible this soon (i.e. 5 months). I'm wondering if I should simply call them but I know they're going to tell me it's under processing time, even if the status hasn't changed in the past 5 months. I understand the wait is meant to be long; but the online status should have been updated by now to 'case ready to be scheduled for interview'.

I think I'll call tomorrow, even if it means knowing what they're going to say. :jest:

Why is it better to wait to apply for SSC 10 days after the receipt of work permit? I might have missed it on the forum. Sorry.

Thanks for the info...

I'm going to apply for my SSN tomorrow, whats the wait like when you were at the office?

And whats the process like? I read you have to take your birth certificate along, did you take yours, I'm sorry this might sound silly, just trying to have an idea if what it will be like tomorrow.

Thanks,

Based upon advice given in this forum it takes some time for USCIS to actually input ur data into their system n one way to know if they have is to check the "case check " option on USCIS website. Waiting 10 days or more cause no delay in the issuing of ur SS Card.

Thanks,

I'm in Brooklyn so all I took was my passport n EAD card. Waiting time less than 5mins. I was guided by the security guard, had to make an electronic appointment via computerized machine which took 2mins then manually file out the SS Card form n listen for you number which was given to u via electronic appointment.

I recommend checking the processing times for your local office. In Philly, for example, they're currently 7 months behind on I-485 adjudication. Since my wife is adjusting from a K1, it's very likely that we'll get an interview waiver which means we'll probably have to wait an additional 6 months. Not fun!

FYI, the San Francisco office is about 9.5 months behind on I-485 adjudication.

Got approved today for my AOS interview!

It was a piece of cake as the interview is more of a chitchat than an actual interview. Officer is more interested to talk about my husband's heritage (German dad and Irish-Italian-American mom) than the legitimacy of our relationship. Sure there were questions asked about us and she asked for evidences too but in the duration of 40 mins that we were in her office, only 10 out of 40 was the actual questions and even then, she was asking my husband more than me even though I was the one adjusting status.

So blessed to have smooth and fast timelines in both our K1 visa and AOS, both were only for 4 months from filing to approval.

The officer's opening question was: Do you watch 90 day fiance?

I knew right there and then that this was not going to be as nerve wracking as we thought it was going to be.

Now we are going to take a break from all the paperworks and fees for 2yrs.

Me and my husband wish you all well and may your EAD/APs and AOS get approved ASAP.

Our prayers are with you! :)

Hahaha. My husband said he did see it before and he asked the officer "Are they still doing it?" and the officer said "Oh yeah! You gotta watch it! It's so entertaining!" Told her I have heard of it but haven't seen it yet. She was very much into tv series and documentaries and history than asking us questions. Haha.

Yes, she told us to gather all evidences of a bonafide marriage bec we will need it for the ROC 1yr and 9 months from now.
