April 2017 AOS Filers

Is anyone still at "Fingerprints fee received" for I-485? I'm curious (read: panicking) if I'm the only one among April filers left with the said status.

Also, since this is for the I-485, there's no way I can raise a service request. And there's no point in calling them, since our local office is processing cases from Sept 2016. However, I was expecting the status would change to 'case ready to be scheduled for interview'. I'm debating whether I should do an infoPass or just forget obsessing about it. It will happen when it happens. :(

Hi @strider4! My Received Date is April 3, and I-485 is still at "Fingerprint Fee Was Received." As an AOS applicant who's adjusting from K-1, I do welcome this rather long wait as it somehow gives me hope that I might get an interview waiver. 🙂 After all, I already have my EAD/AP combo card and it makes waiting for the GC bearable.

If you are also adjusting from K-1, I suggest you just patiently wait. If you're adjusting from a non-K-1 visa, I've read that you are most definitely going be scheduled for an interview. When? The timetable for your local office would be a good gauge.

If you are really worried or obssessed about it, I don't see how an InfoPass could hurt. Good luck, and may you receive favorable news. 🙂

So finally, I have my EAD in hand. I went straight to the social security administration office yesterday to apply for my ssn. Anyone has an idea of how long I need to  wait to get it in mail? 14days seems like forever right now lol.

I also want to apply for my drivers license, does anyone know if I need my ssn before I can apply .

I am late may filer and much of the people I have seen are moved to case ready to be scheduled for interview, not my case, I am in the same boat!

It depends on what state you live, some states require it to prevent identity theft, but for example Texas if you don't have one you can still get it. Check your local license office required documents.

All governments IDs, Licenses, docs, or passports takes 2 weeks from production to arrival. I highly doubt you get your license or SSN in a week.

You don't need SSN for license, just visa, passport, and EAD. Once you complete the exam, they will give you a temporary paper license until you get the rea one

This is not universal. In Pennsylvania, you most definitely need your SSN card.

Drivers licenses are issued by the states and the rules vary. I would suggest that everyone do their research and contact their state's DMV before making the trip!

We have the same timeline. :D I'm adjusting from a non-K-1 so we'd definitely be getting called for an interview. I guess I should do an infoPass to put my mind at ease.
