I did my wedding dress shopping this past Saturday and said yes to the dress. My mom even surprised me by paying for it. We're planning on getting married 12/30, but like you, I'm not going any further until I get the NOA2.

I guess I'm slacking when it comes to the actual wedding part of the process.  I haven't even thought about what I'm going to wear that day!  Are you guys doing an actual wedding??

Awwwww....nice. We're having a pre-New Years wedding but our color scheme has a hint on Caribbean vibe to it. We were gonna get married New Years Eve and break in New Years day with our guest but with the weather being unpredictable and the roads will have a lot of drunk drivers, we'll just do it the day before. Plus, the venues want to charge more just because it's on New Year's and there's too many other important financial things to worry about after the wedding.

Truthfully, this wedding planning stuff kinda helps with the wait and the loneliness until it's nighttime and I go to bed alone. But I keep telling myself it won't be like this always.

That sounds wonderful! I have to agree, planning things makes the time pass a little faster and makes me feel close to her even though she is an ocean away. Once our loved ones are home to us all the unpleasantness of the wait will dissipate like the morning fog under the hot sun, but we will never forget. The memories of this wait will cause us to cherish every moment of the coming shared lifetime.

Yea that's the plan. Me, my mom, and best friend looked at the banquet hall I want to have it at and I communicated the amount of flexibility I will need considering this K1 visa process although I'm sure he will be here no later than late October early November tops if things stay at this pace. The venue coordinator was very understanding and said while funds are nonrefundable, I can always move the date if necessary.

My fiance already knows what type of suit he wants to wear. My mom, best friend and I are doing the planning. I don't expect to have no more than 75-100 ppl to invite. The venue includes pretty much everything for one fixed cost. All has to be done is his fitting which shouldn't take long for him to get his suit back in time before the wedding.

The only downside to this is that his mom will miss out on being there because she's actually in the US on her work visa (works in Myrtle Beach) but normally goes back to JA like the week before Thanksgiving. And because the process has severely slowed down she will be gone by then. But we're planning on having a celebration later in JA once he's cleared to fly internationally.

ROC Filing:

4/21/2021 - Sent ROC Package via FedEx

4/22/2021 - FedEx package delivered and signed

5/11/2021 - Check cashed

5/14/2021 - Received NOA1 via mail (NOA1 date: 5/8/2021)

6/9/2021 -  Biometrics waived - Case updated to Fingerprints taken

That sounds wonderful!  I am an event planner for a living, so if anything looks wonky with your venue contract, let me know, I'd be happy to take a peek!  It's great that you found a place that is flexible with the date, but I'm sending it out to the universe that that won't be necessary!

You also need to post some pictures of your special day!  As much as I've never been that girl that dreamed about what my wedding was going to be like, I do love a good wedding!!

Girl, I'm the same way but my mom wants her daughter to have a wedding so I'm going through the motions which is kinda exciting. It just hit me the other day I'm gonna be married at the end of the year but I've been engaged for almost a year...haha!

But I will definitely post pictures!!!! And I will keep you in mind about the event planning because I'm sure I'm gonna need it!!!

LOL, yes, the wedding dress, the tiara, the barefoot sandals. Alina has always wanted to get married on the beach, sooooo, we will get married on the beach on Oak Island in North Carolina the day after she arrives.

That's great for you both!  We'll probably wait 3 weeks for the paperwork to get to the Social Security office so that she can get her SSN.  Everything I've read says that it takes about 2 weeks for the documents to reach them.
