As someone has said, technically only 1 picture is needed to prove that you have met in person within the last 2 years, but it is better to send more obviously.  That is a great picture showing when you were together and where.  If you have a few that shows the 2 of you that should be fine.  After all, the pictures are just considered secondary evidence anyway.  The rest of the documentation is more important than the pictures.  B-)

LOL, do I sound like I know what I am talking about? :jest:

Yes I know that you know what you are talking about and I can understand your point as it is with the others @Keith & Monica thanks again 😊😊. We actually have more pictures. He just didn't think it was necessary to send a lot of them for the application. We haven't read about the 6 or more pictures ideally because regrettably we weren't VJ member before when we passed our i129f good thing he has done his research on some other forms. But we send copies of other documents like our boarding pass. So I hope it will all be enough. Now that end of July is near I am getting anxious and nervous at the same time so I tend to worry about little things. This wait is really not healthy for our mental health lol 😁😁

Where was it said that the electronic notifications weren't working?  So we are waiting for a hard copy in the mail to be notified now?

It's not been functioning properly since I first filed in April. There were several filers scraping data regularly and found that it was an exercise in futility because the only thing that was showing up on the scans were RFE's. Just yesterday 7 March filers received their hard copy without it showing up in the electronic form.

Look back a few pages/posts, I was asking about it and I believe that @Estibaliz had said that you will only get the electronic notification if you are getting an RFE, not just to let you know that you are approved.  I would love to be wrong about that, but that was the information.

All of that is good information to have in the packet.  When I filed our petition, I was not here either.  My lady and I had done a lot of research on our own to get the information.  It would have been so much easier if we had known about VJ.  Having more pictures when you go for your interview will be good, but again secondary.  I am hoping to be there in the Philippines with her when she goes for her interview.  I also want to fly back here with her.

I was researching the application process several months prior to filing and VJ was one of the first and best resources that I had found. Based on the VJ guide, I had my package ready 2 months before I actually filed while I was waiting for my final divorce papers to get out of the court after 2 years of waiting. Just prior to filing USCIS came out with the new i-129F form so I used it instead of the old one. I did my package exactly as spelled out in the VJ guide so I went into this process with a great deal of confidence.

You are very lucky that you found it early in your process of getting it ready.  I unfortunately did not find it until about a month after I had filed the petition, but we had done quite a bit of research and I do feel fairly confident in what we submitted to them.

Yeah. I originally had planned on going through an immigration attorney but after lurking on the VJ forums for a while read that it was unnecessary if you just followed the VJ guide. Initially, I was under the impression that going through somewhere like RapidVisa.com would somehow expedite the process but after a very short period realized that all you were getting for your money was someone to tell you the same information that VJ had readily available.

That is a good plan to be with your fiance for the interview as it was said here in VJ that the petitioner's presence in the interview could be helpful for the case and of course for your fiance 😊. I only hope my love can come with me too but he has many commitments at work and school so it's not feasible so I will just have to brave the interview myself if it finally comes 😊. We are already talking about interview look how positive we are 😁😁😁

Come on you need to be positive.  Not if it comes, but when it comes.  Even if you get an RFE, it will come eventually.  We have to think positive, because we all want to be with the one that we love.  B-)

Hey guys!

So I have a question about background checks. My fiance and I have been teaching abroad the past three years. We lived in Germany, England, Ireland, China, and Thailand. I have tried contacting the embassy in regards to what background checks I will be required to obtain for my fiance's K-1 interview, but they haven't been helpful (not surprising). They told me that once I receive my NOA2 I will be informed on what to collect.

My fear is that obtaining these background checks will take a long time so I'd like to get started now! Could someone please tell me what they ask for? Do I have to obtain a background check from each country I lived in for 6 months or over 6 months?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you :)

Yep, I was probably the one saying that, but it could have been anyone, because that's sadly the case. Only RFE's and, once in a blue moon, yes, an approval... but it seems you have to be uber lucky to get one of those :) It's been like this since early May, so like two months and a half already.

Funny how now that I'm busy working the rest of the week, you get all chatty :P

Joking, guys... I'll keep reading in between customers. Working at my sister's comic bookstore, lol. It's going to be a crazy week (but at least keeps me busier, because yep, the waiting is tiring).

Thank you :)

On the DS-160 form it will ask all of the countries that the beneficiary has been to in the past 5 years. Any country that the stay was 6 months or over will require a police certificate from that locale. I researched it because my fiancee was in France for a short period of time and I originally thought that she was going to need a police certificate from there but she wasn't there long enough to require it. I've also seen another filer in the forums get delayed because she worked in another country over the 6 month requirement and they had to obtain the certificate before they could go forward.

Yes that's why I told my fiance to check on his mail everyday because of this. And apparently he is already doing it.

I am also on night duty but couldn't help but check Everytime I receive notification from VJ . I was actually wondering where you are

It is because you will only be needing the police certificates for all the countries that you have stayed for 6 months after you get your NOA2. It is a requirement that you have to send. So maybe it will be best to research now how long to obtain a police certificate for each country so you will at least have an idea and not have to hurry securing it when you need to since you both have been to a lot of countries. I for one already did 😉
