Hi. This might be really stupid but I just have a question about the NVC.. so we got our NOA2 hard copy today and my fiancé just seems to think we should just wait until the embassy contacts me.. but I need to call them right? To get our case number? But then do I get a separate London number? What is the difference? I'm just about tired and confused with this process.

You can call the NVC in about 10 days and get the number from them, sometimes takes up to 21 days for it but 10 is a safe time frame. They will send a letter with the information, but the London Embassy gets papers fast. Once you have the NVC number you can use that to do your DS-160, schedule your medical check. You can also use that number to check when your case has arrived at the London Embassy and call them to setup the interview the day they get it. If you are antsy it will save you a few days.

Thank you!! So there's no separate London number? Sorry last question..can I book the medical before I scheduled the interview date? Or before the embassy have received my case?

@vcpdragon Did you reach out to Congresswoman Roby? I have been in contact with her office concerning my petition and they have been very helpful. I am originally from Crenshaw County (right below Montgomery) and she is my representative. I would assume she would be yours, too. I am currently living in Kentucky for school, but my residence and voter registration is still Alabama. I figured it would be best to contact her and not my Louisville rep. I haven't heard anything yet, but her staff is very helpful!

You are a June filer what could your congress person possibly do for you at this point unless you requested an expedite?

Hey in time for Halloween and the rest of the holiday fun at least. Sounds like you two have a nice plan. Please don't hurt yourself skiing this winter in Utah.

Hah, skiing is not for us. Actually we went to ice skating to the Olympic Oval and I can also say that's not for me either, though Gary was quite good at it. I'm just a scaredy cat  However, first activity we did together was horse riding... That, and some roller coasters :P

Well, I'm just babbling. It's been a really loooong day and I need to sleep, so please excuse me for all the unanswered messages and mentions. I really do appreciate all the good wishes. You all are wonderful people and I can't wait to hear good news from each and every one of you :)

I think the worst thing is that before the slowdown started to happen we all had applied figuring everything would be done before Halloween, now so many of us are just basically praying it is before Christmas. So disappointing.

Maybe it can be interesting , what means NVC number

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

the case number is in the format    EEEYYYOOOSSS  that is three letters followed by ten digits

  • EEE    the U.S. Embassy or the Consulate that will process the immigrant visa
  • YYY   the year in which case was received by NVC from the USCIS, this year is the calendar year
  • OOO  Julian date which is Ordinal date plus 500.  ...534 means that the case was created on 34 th day of the year, that is 34th, so February 3.
  • SSS  Sequence number for the day.  ... if 002 - means this case was the second approved petition  scanned on that day for that particular U.S. Embassy/ Consulate

When I scan cases around my date (4/6) there are still many waiting. Bottom line is it's literally the luck of the draw. I truly realized that the day I called to get additional examples of things I could send in response to my rfe and the guy told me he didn't understand why I got an rfe in the first place because I provided everything they needed. Whatta you do?!

Just think, the worst part of the waiting is over. We're into the sprint finish.  I know nothing happens as fast as we would like it to, but this is the government were dealing with LOL. I'm just happy we have our noa2.
