Wow, 48hrs,,,,, Hardly time to check in and out of a hotel.  But worth it

We interview on the 6th.  Actually, hoping I catch a really compassionate CO that offers a speedy VOH so I can take her away with me on the return flight.  I'll be staying in Ph for a week. If that doesn't work out, then it looks like she will fly alone.  Her choice as she had the option of accompany her at interview or accompany her on POE.  She hands down chose INTERVIEW!  So in 2 weeks I fly over there again.  She's a real bright, sharp woman with lot's of savvy, so I'm not worried for her traveling alone, just that POE in DFW or SFO or JFK are all very far away and I won't be there with her for the entry.  But yes, It is a long way anyway you go - totally halfway around the world :D

I have the same choice to make.  We decided to be together for the POE.  Neither of her kids have ever flown and they will have a lot of luggage.  I think my support will be more important on the trip to their new home.  I would love to be able to do both!!!

Personally I could not imagine what it must be like to pack everything and move half way around the world.  That is such a difficult and stressful thing to do.  That is why I want to be with them on that journey.  I need to let them know that I will always be there for them and I am going to do everything in my power to make that transition as smooth as possible.

Question for those of you who maybe fly more often. If flying through Incheon Airport South Korea is that the POE or would Detroit end up being the POE. I know some countries have US Customs & Immigration checkpoints before you fly into the country so I wasn't sure at what point she will hit her POE fun.

It should be there tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. Call twice a day though for sure.

If you sell your house then will you just rent in Oregon when you come back here for the wedding?

Property here in PNW is selling faster than it can be listed so you should not have much problem if you are anywhere near the city.

Yes, I will rent here in Portland.  This is where my job is at the moment.  Hopefully, yes it will sell quickly.

Have you sent the paperwork back yet? I was sooo nervous last night about it. I actually had a dream we were approved but when I woke up I had this horrible anxiety. It totally sucks

Hello Everyone!

Happy Tuesday.. another day closer! hehe.

So today I had my medical appointment at Knightsbridge Doctors and thought i'd let you all know how it went for those wondering! :)

Turned up a little early (appointment was for 10.10am but got there at 9.50am) make sure you press the buzzer on the side of the building "knightsbridge doctors" which lets you in.

Once your in head to the booth where you'll say your name and hand over all of your documents (ladies in reception are really nice and definitely put you at ease so don't get nervous) :)  They will give you a urine sample pot which you'll fill and place into a red bag that they give you, hand it back to reception after, they give you like two tick sheets (really simple questions) once I did this I was told to wait in the waiting room until my name was called, I sat down for about 5/10 minutes and a women came in and called my name. I was taken to a room where I removed my top and was told to put a gown on and stand by a x ray machine (Just a reminder: They do tell you to put your hair up for the x ray). After this I was taken to the waiting room again where I was told to wait for another doctor.

After 5/10 minutes again another doctor came and she was SO lovely! She is from new zealand and I hope you all get her! :) put me at ease completely, ended up talking about lots of things about how she moved to the uk etc and even looked at my ring too haha.. I felt so much at ease to the point I didn't even realise she'd finished the blood test and completed all checks..

The checks she carried out in the room with me were as follows:

- Checked my temperature

- Checked my eyes, ears and mouth

- Listened to my breathing

- Took a weight and height recording

- I had to close one eye and read a couple letters off the far wall.

And that was literally it.. no vaccines were required as i'd had them all previously. The doctor told me that I was all healthy.

So PLEASE do not worry because it really isn't that bad! I was in and out in about 45 minutes!

Worst part is honestly saying goodbye to £300 haha.

Good Luck to you all and please feel free to message me if you have any questions! :)

@S*UK Thank you for your message yesterday! Good luck with yours in a couple days! Hope this gives you a good insight to what it will be like, please do not be nervous haha. :)

@DrivinAForeign Hope this helps! please tell her not to worry. :)

Thank you so much for posting this! I'm so nervous about my medical but reading this helped a little xx

Yeah she was able to get he document we needed in two days of bugging the office. I sent it out yesterday via Priority Express so the documents should reach them by 3pm today. I am hoping they show received tomorrow and we get the approval before the end of the month.

She wanted to be back before November. At this point I suspect she will get here the week after Thanksgiving. The problem is her sister gets married in Delhi on the 23rd of November and she wanted to avoid the wedding. Her parents have to go to Delhi on the 13th of November to get the final stuff ready. It may just be her and the servant left at the house getting her ready to fly here.

Awe man, that stinks! We were hoping for thanksgiving as well but it's such a long shot at this point. We were planning our wedding reception back in Jamaica in April but it doesn't look like that will happen... fingers are crossed for all of us waiting... so many have zoomed past us it's hard to stay positive!

Dont forget about the CFO.

I was in the same situation due to running out of vacation time. She had to choose between interview and POE. She chose POE because flying all the way to Texas alone is daunting to her.

Finally done.

Totally understandable. At this point I am getting nervous about some other items as well. She was excited about Christmas together with my family and did all the Christmas shopping in Nepal. The problem is some of the items are paintings on canvas. I am not sure how fast the local frame shop will be able to turn around framing them to be able to give them at Christmas to the people she bought for. I mean it is really sweet of her that she did all that. Originally I was going to fly to Nepal to see her in June, then her mom had a stroke. Then I was going to fly over so we could fly back together, but the date keeps getting pushed back and the Furnace/AC started acting up. We looked at pricing about a month ago for me to visit and she just told me to buy the ticket for her to get back and spend the rest of our money on the Green Card Application and Furnace. Frustrating to say the least this year.

POE is the Port of Entry and is always the First US Port that they get to.  Where ever that is.
