Sorry, @Estibaliz, I should've cut down your comment an only quoted your last para...

> What's their point in not giving away the results anyway? I mean, what do they expect to happen or for your fiance to do regarding the high BP to finally release them?

I agree! I don't know about decision power. They should've given @tcovington's F a little more direction on what to do next / what will happen next - for his own health, let alone how it affects their K1 process. (Hence my DPA 1998 comment regarding access to results)

No problem :)

I just wanted to make sure I didn't offend anyone. I simply don't understand why they are doing that instead of being more helpful and informative, just as you said :)

Oh well, hope that can be fixed soon...

And that sucks. I don't know if maybe the Embassy can give them a shake about this? I know the one in Spain did with the clinic here sometime ago, when they were refusing to fill in the DS3025 for the vaccines, saying that wasn't really required for K1's but optional. Now they always ask you if you want to get that or do it in the States and it's included in the exam.

What's their point in not giving away the results anyway? I mean, what do they expect to happen or for your fiance to do regarding the high BP to finally release them?

Have no idea what the embassy will do. I'll email them on Monday. Didn't think to contact them regarding it.

They want him him to go to his GP and have them either send them paperwork that his BP is fine or prescribe him something. They say they're holding it because it could be an untreated medical disease. They won't let his records go without it.

I hope readers of this forum don't think our NHS is that bad. It's underfunded but not that bad!

No one queues outside their GPs office, they sit in a waiting room. They may queue on the phone to get an appointment, but most book their own appointments online now. If there was a line outside then the national press would be all over this. If this is the case for your F, then I suggest he contacts his local MP

All GP's / Doctors have a certain knowledge to qualify, They refer to specialists just like the US doctors would. With regards to a high BP at the time, perhaps he could visit his local GP and get more readings when he's a little more relaxed? My NHS GP has a blood pressure monitor behind a screen in their waiting room area.

The Data Protection Act 1998, states that patients have a right to access their medical records upon request.

The patient care summary is a requirement and can be printed off yourself if you have a login to your GP's website, Otherwise receptionists / administrators should have this access too. It doesn't require making a doctors appointment.

I hope all works out for your F, @tcovington.

UK filers, do let me know if I can assist with navigation of the UK system. However, there is a lot of useful information regarding the UK medical at Knightsbridge within the United Kingdom forum here on VJ

All the best

i do have to say maybe it's different where you are because jonathan says the queue up outside and the line will be down the block trying to get an appointment. I'm the dramatic one not him.

Thats what they are making him do, see his GP. However, there is a chance he won't get to see his GP in time for the interview, as the appointments are so far out, and they queue up very early and he doesn't know how many they'll take each day.

He lives in Kelty, doubt they care.

Ive experienced your NHS and can say when I there it wasn't that bad, but I do believe that's because I lived in edinburgh. Where jonathan is should be considered the boonies. Thank goodness he never gets hurt with the long wait times for ambulances and no near by hospitals.

My point is each person and their areas miles will vary.

No I know that there are places like that. My ex father in laws GP surgery they couldn't book appointments and was seen on a first come first serve policy which made people in fact que up before they opened this was a few years ago but it would for sure be frustrating to deal with that every time you need to see your doctor. At my GP I usually have to wait 2-3 weeks to get an appointment apart from when it's an emergency..

They still have to be compliant with the NHS Patient Charter. He'll get an appointment, for sure. Good luck and I hope he's ok.

I guess that kind of makes sense. When I did the medical, apart from the possible white coat hypertension, they knew I have hypothyroidism, and meds for than can mess with my BP. That's probably while the doctor only advised me to keep an eye on it, because they already knew the probable cause, and that's a chronic disease already reported.

Anyway, I hope it's an easy fix. And if you get the 221g, that normally asks for some specific documents or course of action, so whatever they say, I guess.

Sorry you had to find that unexpected hurdle though :(

In your case, it would be Administrative Processing, pending medical.

When the medical is passed and the interview is successful, the visa can be issued.

I'm equally confused by this.  Hypertension is treated incrementally with lopressors that are actually part skill and part luck in prescribing.  Obviously the first course of action is to change lifestyle and diet and if that isn't effective, then you maaaaaay try a Rx to fix it.  As this was a visa medical, limited in scope to a one time encounter - their advice should have been to watch it closer and to seek out a GP to aid in its control.  Holding up a release of the report serves what purpose??

Make no mistake, Hypertension is a silent killer. Strokes and Aneurysms are well known results of this, but kidney failure and other morbidities are also associated.  It is something to sit up and pay attention to, but through the eyes of your GP - not a slam dunk clinic that only has Go/No Go decision authority.

Like I said, I'm confused by this clinic........

I don't remember the options in the menu now to know what was two, but for years people have been using 7 (general inquiries) according to VJ. 5 started to be an option around May, I think it was, when they started implementing the electronic system.

Actually, first time we called we tried 5, and the guy there specifically told us to press 7 next time, since they only deal with electronic cases and apparently Spain doesn't have them.

Yep!  They keep it confusing, electronic, standard heh heh heh

@krizia for what it's worth, I called and hit 1 for English and 7 - the guy picked right up and had my number for me.  I'm a PH too.  I've heard of some PH getting their number on option 5 too, so Try 7 first, if they don't have it, hang up and call back and choose 5.  I bet they have it.  Remember you may call as early as 7am and late as midnight in US so that is 7pm to Noon the following day for you.  I called at 7:08am us time.

Since I've been quoted here :) I would like to say I was specifically talking about Knightsbridge and not the NHS on being difficult or a bit ridiculous on the way they are acting. Nothing to say about the public system, that I'm sure is a good one, same as ours.

My complaint, if so, is regarding these private clinics we are forced to use and pay, which they think they can appropriate more decisión power than they probably should

Of course they have to do their work, but to certain extent.

DITTO

Worldwide, the US Dept of State needs to crack down on this kind of foolishness.....   Seriously, consults for goosebumps is the definition of insanity!

Hello! After your interview is booked you can pay your fee at this website

Hit 'Register' then follow the instructions!

In the end, once you pay the fee, you should print off the confirmation page to bring it as proof to your interview.

Hope this helps!
