NOA1: April 25th

Day 140 for me.  I've not heard anything since they transferred my petition to the Texas Service Center on July 28th.  I've called USCIS multiple times and spoken with Tier 2 and they cannot see the reason for the transfer.  I submitted an inquiry August 16th and it has to be responded to by this Friday.

Hopefully an approval will come quickly!

I'm not sure what's going on with Tier 2- I keep reading that people were getting denied a call transfer to Tier 2.  I've never been denied a transfer in the 2.5 years that I've been involved with USCIS.  If this happens, please remind them ( nicely) that per the USCIS Policy Manual, you can request to be transferred at any time.

I hope you hear from them and get good news soon. Sure you deserve them!

Bestest of luck :)

Hi all. noa1 waiting on noa2. When asking a tier 2 the following:

-Has case been touched
-If YES any officer assigned?
-Backgrouod check done? For Beneficiary and Petitioner
-Name check done?
-When can expect update?
-Is there a RFE notice (Request for Evidence)

What do these things prove? eg if there is an office but no name check, that does this mean in terms of processing times/the status of our case

  • 04/11/2017 - I-129F Received - NOA1
  • 11/14/2017 - NOID
  • 12/05/2017 - Response to NOID received
  • 12/19/2017 - NOA2
  • 01/23/2018 - NVC received and given number
  • 02/01/2018 - Left NVC
  • 02/08/2018 - Consulate received
  • 02/12/2018 - Medical
  • 02/23/2018 - Interview - G22A: new passport requested due to name error
  • 06/03/2018 - New passport sent back to US Embassy
  • 14/03/2018 - Visa in hand

I would say "officer assigned" means you case is not sitting in a warehouse waiting to be pulled and worked rather an officer has it at his desk on his own shelf waiting to be worked along with all the other cases he pulled.

The Background Check and Name check are both items that need to be done before they can complete the job. So it comes it, gets assigned to an officer, but they have to wait until some other government paperwork is finished before they can send and RFE or NOA2. So basically those two tell you how close you might be to getting a decision.

So I was thinking back through things and at this point my bet on the RFE is her Photos. She had the passport photos done when she was India for a bit and they looked like they might be a hair small.

For info, I just called the NVC (the ...0888) number to see if they have my MNL# yet, and they said not yet. I received the NOA2 approval notification on their website on Sept 5.

I'll try again in a day or so.

BTW, I called at 4:30 pm and got someone on the line after less than a 5 minute wait, and he was real nice.

Hi I think this is a dumb question but how did you get a notification from them? Is that through email? Thank you.

Regular mail.  I've never received any e-mails despite registering for e-mail notification.  No online update either.

Yep, you got that right... But the immigrant intent must be the key fact, since the petition is processed by the Immigrant Visa Unit at the Embassy. Though I think right before they issue the visa you'll see how it finally changes to Nonimmigrant Visa again in the ceac website. Can't wait to track that part! :D

Anyway, you are good now to follow progress. Yay!

Just wanted to update that I got an email notification from the NVC with my case number today! Just check the CEAC site and it's currently in transit :)

The only thing I wanted to ask is that I also got another email that the German Embassy (fiance is British but he has been living in Germany for the past 3 years) approved a request for expedited processing. I'm not complaining but is this part of the usual process? I didn't request any expedite so curious where this came from!

Congratulations! Germany deals with electronic cases, which is why you got an email from the NVC, instead of regular mail, plus that other standard one from the Embassy. No expedite really, just electronic cases are supposed to be faster as if they were expedited.
