How do I contact the local senator?

Hopefully! Thanks for the encouraging words!

You would want to probably get in touch with either Mark Warner or Tim Kaine's office. You talk with the office and they typically have a person who does immigration stuff.

Do you know who your Senators are?  You can look them up online to know.  Then search for them and it will give you their local offices.  You want your Federal Senators, not State.  I just did a search and your 2 Senators are Mark Warner and Timothy Kaine, both Democrats.  Personally I would go with Mark Warner because he is the more Senior Senator.  Check their websites for the office close to you and call them.  Explain what is going on and you would like their help.

Based on your hometown and the offices that they have, you may be closest to his actual Washington DC office.

Thanks for answer.

I thought I'm not suppose to take any actions until packet 3 arrives, am I wrong ?

I don't know what your country is, but in my case I contacted the Embassy and they sent me the packet 3 and let me send my documents before they processed the case. Not sure how helpful that's going to be overall, but no harm on being proactive.

And yes, I sent my packet 3 before we got the NVC letter in the mail... Not to mention I think some people never got one.

So I had been wondering why I hadn't heard anything from my Senator's office after I sent in the information to them. The guy who was handling the case out of the Cincinnati office had quit. So she got it reassigned to the Cleveland office lady and will have her call me later.

So at least I figured out why I hadn't gotten results. Just frustrating.

Hey all,

Our case was approved on September 1st .

When should we call the NVC and get our case number? I would be happy if someone can explain to me why getting the case number on the phone is better than waiting for it to come in the mail. This means we can track our case at DOS earlier?

sometimes when people get the number from NVC in the mail, the letter is not relevant ,because case is already in the embassy:)

congrats. Depends if you are in a hurry. If no rush then wait for the mail but if you want to be together soon then call 10 days after NOA 2.

All up to you. I think 95% of us here would want the case number NOW.

Not necessarily irrelevant. Some embassies require the letter.  Sometimes the letter doesn't come and printouts of a webpage screenshot showing the NVC # are used in place of the letter.

So, the letter is needed, but there are workarounds should you not get it.

Finally done.

I am trying not to think too much about it.  Very frustrated and sad right now.  The only thing keeping me going is being able to talk with Monica everyday.  I am happy for everyone that is getting their NOA2 and beyond, but I am very very very jealous of them and even a little resentful of them.  I see people complain about under 100 days of waiting and even a little more.  We are sitting at 163 days since received.  Oh Well, we'll see.

One Day More... One Day Less... One Day Closer... :jest:

Even after getting our NOA2 yesterday I keep checking here to see if Keith and Monica got theirs. Our dates were very close, so I'm convinced you'll get it this week. Maybe there was a different person working on yours and they took some days off for Labor Day.
